Title: Video Essayz
Post by: WorldForgot on March 22, 2021, 11:55:27 AM
An oversaturated area of theory/form that puts its emphasis on Editing what's already been Edited -- and so, an interesting realm of Film-Crit outside of its written parallel.

Within the gestalt of the form itself, Video Essayists can themselves become Auteurs, like Kogonada. Can create ripples within the fandom and mechanism of distribution. Do we need A24 films dissected, is that a cultural echo or is it merely a new nature of the market?

almost more of a fan edit - but pretty neat as a juxtaposition of series highlights
spoilers, in a sense

it's not an essay so much as an opinion piece I think, the woman I'm currently romancing told me about Maggie Mae Fish, I'm about to watch this

update: it's about the transformative empathy of Lynch, and the lack of humanity in Kubrick
