This one really warms my heart, I have to say. Ethan Hawke is underappreciated in general, and this might be the performance of his career.

I guess I'll have to finally get around to watching it. I was pretty convinced Paul Schrader was washed after the unmitigated disasters that were The Canyons and Dying of the Light.

He gets a pass for Dying of the Light, since it was commandeered and scissored by producers. You should see Dog Eat Dog and First Reformed, the latter is one of last year's best and the former batshit fun.
