Really NOBODY here at this fuckin movie forum that got any trailers, shorts, features of whatever kinda shit of film online??
I always thought it was so easy to put your film online and show everybody how good you are, but probally it ain't the way to go anymore?? I know about ifilm.com and I know about all the others, but still none of u ever put up the short that came out of that screenplay you posted here?? Only the third time I'm Starting a topic similiar like this... but probally really nobody around that got their stuff on the net..... :?:
Yeah really people, c'mon, send them (http://www.xixax.com/viewtopic.php?t=69) to Mr. Xixax and get some publicity and more valuable opinions! Who knows who might be reading this board (now or in the future)...
I think that the Xixax approach is a little unique because it's not a commercial venture. A lot of sites out there make you pay to post things, or if they are free, it's done for the sake of building traffic to their site so they can sell ads.
This place is a little more intimate. I doubt we'll ever get very big, so really I just wanna see the work of the people we hang out with here... More familylike than anything else. Sorta like home movies. If this place for whatever reason does blow up and get huge then that might change, but that's not my plan. This whole thing is just for fun - for me and everybody else.
So yeah, peeps. Send me your videos so everyone here can watch them and see your shiat!
Is there a time limit?

Not really.

so you can post my 66 minute feature?
Sure! It'll be a huge download, but yeah, I'd love to.
I just uploaded the trailer for my very first short'ish' film, although the quality is really crap as its optimzed for 56k. I'll replace it with a better version soon.

Can't wait!!!!!
This stuff really inspires me. I hope it inspires others, too. That would be completely cool if a little forum like this could motivate people to start making new art.
I'll have something up here by Sunday

I'd rather wait for the finished product.
I suppose I could make a special thread for previews too, though. Now that I think about it...

Redlum, I have this on disk (saved it from yesterday).
Want me to put it up here, or did you remove it intentionally?
thanks xixax for sharing my ideas, 'cause It musn't only be Talks here, we gotta need a place on the forum that's like a 'screeningroom' or whatever and then have discussions about each others films and stuff... :!: When I get my editing card working alright - in the next six months or so perhaps... - I'll put up some stuff too...

Sorry about that. I replaced it with a better quality version and forgot about case sensitive. Its now www.r2ka.freeserve.co.uk/TRAILER.mov
and the 56k version is now www.r2ka.freeserve.co.uk/TRAILER56k.MOV
Who's the old dude??
You mean the character or the actor?
the actor, I mean is it just some local, is it you, or a friend or your dad perhaps?? :P
I can't wait to see the whole thing.
Not me! I'm 18....although my dad does have a role in it :)
He's an actor from the theatre I occasionaly work at.
Okay... but one more thing: why did the titles come out so cheap??
'Cause that was the only 'annoying' aspect of your trailer.. for the rest it looked pretty 'promising' ... Did you write any scripts before this? Or shot some shorts?
I'm not sure about the tiltes. To me the quality looks really shitty on all of it (apart from my master copy at 254mb). The titles though, must be something to do with the 'for web' compression.
This is my first script, film and trailer. I always wanted make films during school but I never had the facilities or the time. Now I've taken a gap year, I've got the ability to make films before I goto to uni...to make more.
That's cool, Red.
I myself am considering taking 1 day a week off just for my "hobby"... to write and maybe record some shorts.

Good for you. Everybody should. Allow time to pursue creative ventures. As a civilisation we work too hard :)
i just finished my first short film about 2 weeks ago, doing post shit right now, as soon as we are done with editing ill let all you guyz see some amazing shit
chris
last summer, my friend Tom and I had some script ideas and decided to make some short DV films
but before we actually got around to finishing the first script, we started experiementing with different locations and shit and before we knew it, we had some quality improv material that we turned into 2 goofy short films: "3 Nights in June" and "Awkward Conversations with Strangers"
i have a few web clips that i made while editing them at my university library - i know they are rough and ghetto as hell, but hopefully more people will come forward with their own shit after seeing these
from "3 Nights in June"
http://unixgen.muohio.edu/~daytr/timmytommy/june.swf (80 KB - just a little flash text only trailer i made before i had digital video editing equipment at my disposal)
http://www.users.muohio.edu/daytr/clips/shaft.mov (8.84 mb - i ended up using the intro from the Shaft theme in this sequence - which is a buildup to us dropping in on this girl we haven't seen in 3 years in the middle of the night)
from "Awkward Conversations with Strangers"
http://www.users.muohio.edu/daytr/clips/wig.mov (11.7 mb)

now back to your regularly scheduled independant filmmaker thread...
I have a question for Mr. Xixax. If we have files that are on our computers but no webspace, is there a way to send them over to you via AIM or ICQ or something? I have a bunch of little movies I'd love to have posted but don't want to send them in the mail as I don't have copies.
All my stuff is on my computer too.

Sure, but to cover my arse, I'd still need the signed waiver...
I could give you an FTP area to send it to. It would preferably be a dv-codec file (not precompressed) so that I can squeeze it down to mpeg and windows media. I'd also like to include information (like the one that's found in the download area now)...

Buck, these are pretty fun! Did the evening go anywhere, or was it just "stream of consciousness" documenting? Is the full length version anywhere?
"3 Nights in June" actually has something that resembles a plot
"Awkward Conversations" is more stream of consciousness
I have been dubbing & distributing VHS tapes with both films (each runs a little over 30 minutes)
Anyone who wants a free copy (no, you don't even have to pay shipping), send an email with subject "3 Nights in June" or "Awkward Conversations with Strangers" (you'll get both films regardless) to
daytr@muohio.edu - include your mailing address
i was trying to put together a DVD set with both films, plus extras (Tom and I have already recorded a commentary for 3 Nights) - but those plans are on hold until i graduate school in may, enjoy my summer (i.e. touring with Pearl Jam, making the next film, fucking around), then get a real job in the fall - once i have that steady income, i'm going to invest in a new computer to be used primarily for editing and DVD burning
http://unixgen.muohio.edu/~daytr/timmytommy/tt.html - this is a website for Timmy & Tommy Productions that i threw together and update every once in a while - it's got pics and video clips

I don't own any of the rights to the music in my films, so I guess I can't post them up here, huh?
I never intended to release them, just did them for fun and used the music I wanted in there. Is there a way to get them posted or does everybody have to speculate.
You can send them in, sure. But the signed disclaimer means that if the copyright holder gets pissed about the usage, that you're responsible for it instead of us.
My film "Smoke & Mirrors" has turned been turned from a planned feature to a web series and it is posting new episodes every two weeks at www.fof-films.com
I welcome anyone to come by and take a peak, let me know what you think.

Killer stuff, Michael. Very, very professional!!
Thanks for the props on the site, I'm getting ready to do an update in the next few days for Chapter Three and I thought I'd add a link to this site on my links page.
Great resource and discussions here, I appreciate having a place to stop by for a chat now and then, as well as bounce ideas etc...
Again, thanks for stopping by - thanks for the board
