I'm getting an Alex Garland vibe, maybe. That sort of emotion within sterility feeling. I think A24 distributed Ex Machina, if I'm remembering right, so it would make sense in that respect. But if it is, it's definitely something different from Annihilation, his previously announced 2017 film.

Mystery solved, it's for some short film premiering at Sundance.

A little let down that it's a short film because the plot sounds bloody fantastic.

QuoteAs for what Toru actually is, the Film Stage report explains that it's about a baby boy—Toru—who is born with a "fatal lung condition." He only has a few days to live, so his parents put him through a high-tech experiment that can "simulate a full life in a matter of days."
