One of my favorites from Sundance last year. I have no idea why IFC waited over a year to release it.

found this awwwwful to watch. overall. campos is a solid craftsman, gotta admit. he's got some ideas

i didn't like watching this protagonist jog his ipod while strolling, but maybe in a different movie i'd like that. i didn't like watching this guy do barely anything in tedious long take after tedious long take, but in other movies long takes have a kind of existential or temporal charge (that i think this movie wanted). i love colors and colors on screen, but why were there color transitions in this movie?

the protagonist is a straight bad person. like sometimes like in chabrol's movies violette or la ceremonie or tarvernier's fresh bait or etc, the movie will invite the audience to consider submerged capacities, and kind of make people think that maybe anyone could erupt, on accident or purpose. it's in all of us maybe

this movie takes the more modernly popular solution: he's a bad person. if you saw him on the street you wouldn't know he's a bad person. but he is, deal with it (yaaawn)

and it weaves this character into his time, such that prevailing popular attitudes seem shockingly related to this person's evilness. in case you've missed two decades or bret easton ellis. and wasn't last year's the comedy even better at this

it's a merger of contemporary art house sensibilities, cultural fashions, and serial killing. it's not more complicated than that. it's like a much better crafted henry: portrait of a serial killer, and with an lcd soundsystem dance scene that's pretty ace

so i think some people will like it. and it's worth seeing, sure. i think the appreciation will be split just the same as it was for his production mate's movie martha marcy

I liked this better than 'Martha Marcy' which bothered me in the way that this bothered you. I think I mostly liked just following this weirdo around in the seedy underbelly of Paris. And listening to great music.

mod you should start adding the following disclaimers to your reviews:

liked this movie because it had LCD Soundsystem.

and

did not like this movie because it did not have LCD Soundsystem.

...I haven't heard him make any mention of 'The Comedy'

maybe because it doesn't have ALL of LCD Soundsystem?

It's a good trailer but pretty spoiler-y.
