Awesome trailer, will the movie be as awesome though?
It's not an awesome trailer.
They keep saying that it's more faithful to the PKD story, but this looks like they're just remaking the movie (taking Mars out because Hollywood is superstitious). It looks bland and predictable.
I will see it and hate it.
I agree the trailer is not awesome.
It has one cool sequence and hotter chicks than the original, that's all I can say with certainty.
It's very shiny. But it's not Total Recall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj0FNmDJBIo).

So it's basically Total Recall, now with more Bourne Identity and Fifth Element?
I was all excited about Every Action Hero Holds Guns Like the Green Beret when they first started doing that shit, but now it's getting pretty obnoxious, especially if they're doing it in space.
What is the point of these beat-by-beat remakes? Have they ever been successful? If you're going to invest money into a bad idea like a remake, why not try to make it different? You're already just banking on people seeing it because they recognize the name, that part is done, now do something new in it.
my five word review: not funny or violent enough
but it's got Cranston in it.
Good enough movie. I definitely wasn't too bored with it, but they'll never be able to capture dystopia like the 80's did again (Children of Men being the rare exception) They need to stop trying.
edit: Total Recall was actually 1990. Close enough. you get my drift.

so I'm not the only one who thought
Children of Men is a prime example of dystopia, where it feels like that entire story was set inside a rotting bag of trash set under Oscar the Grouch's hindquarters?
Word.

Good enough movie.
It certainly wasn't good enough for me.
I had already gotten over being mad at this movie and had lowered my expectations significantly and it was still a huge, boring, piece of shit.
They were given an opportunity to take a really good idea for an action movie and do almost anything with it and they chose to poorly piece the original back together, leaving out anything that would be considered mildly risky.
Lots of videogame scenes.
I would love to hear from someone who hasn't seen the original that saw this remake.
very video game-ish. That was a serious problem with it that I could see coming from a mile away when I watched the trailer. At the end of it all, I pretty much felt like I'd been vomited on with special effects, no sense of wonder or amazement at the thrill ride I'd just been taken on like with Verhoeven's original. I'll at least watch it one more time, because there were some significant changes from the old one towards the end that I found it hard to follow. Like, when Cranston popped up, I had no idea what his deal was. I just thought it was kinda cool he was there. So it's worth another shot from me, I found it somewhat entertaining. I'm glad I saw it in a theater because I'm pretty sure this would be entirely WORTHLESS on a small screen. Another watered down remake for the masses, but for this sad sack generation, I'll say: meh, good enough.
EDIT:I noticed an interesting pattern with me and RK's remake talk. I'm always glass half full guy, he's always defending the movies of his past. The last remake we disagreed over was 'Fright Night' with none other than Colin Farrell!( has he ever done anything good? ) He was so right about that one. He's right now, too. By no means am I recommending anyone go watch this shit, but it kept my ass in the seat for 2 hours, at anytime I could've left and saw something else (didn't pay), but it just didn't suck hard enough to. So I'm defending it for at least being good enough to keep me in the theater.
