And this was my most anticipated movie. Damnit.

Julian Schnabel's 'Miral' Delayed Until 2011
Source: The Film Stage
Writer: Danny King

Seeing as how the film was a notable disappointment at this year's Venice Film Festival, The Playlist's report, which states that the release of  Julian Schnabel's Miral has been delayed until 2011, doesn't come as much of a surprise. Schnabel had previously received an Oscar nomination for directing The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, so expectations were understandably high for his next narrative feature.

Miral also stars Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) in her first leading role, which was another cause for anticipation. The strong supporting cast, which includes Hiam Abbass (The Visitor), Willem Dafoe, and Vanessa Redgrave, certainly didn't do anything to lower expectations.

Unfortunately, though, not enough people have gotten behind the film to convince The Weinstein Company that its December 3 release date should stick. Instead, with Miral being pushed back, Harvey Weinstein will be able to focus solely on one very legitimate Oscar contender: Tom Hooper's The King's Speech.

let's not kid ourselves, the entire cast of Slumdog was pure ham. the only people who can be proud of their work on that film are Danny Boyle and Anthony Dod Mantle.

judging by this recent news and pinto's performance quality in the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck96h97y9Vs), she might be able to now claim this as the first film she tanked all on her own.
