Premise: The film follows a handful of promising kids through a system that inhibits, rather than encourages, academic growth, Undertaking an exhaustive review of public education, surveying "drop-out factories" and "academic sinkholes," methodically dissecting the system and its seemingly intractable problems.
I saw this on Sunday and I'm glad I did. Stylistically it's not great, but it's very digestible for a film with as much quantitative information as it has. It's also a fairly ham-handed, not as "smart" as I would have hoped, but again I'm glad I saw it. My family is full of teachers, and I'd really love it if they could be part of a better system.
