Here's an article I came across about the guy who wrote American Pie, thought it might be interesting reading for the screenwriters among us, I found it pretty insightful about how it all works.

Adam Herz never intended on making it as a screenwriter, he wanted to be a P.A., and it's quite an amazing story, whether or not you like the guy's work.
