Release Date: October 30th, 2009 (limited)
Starring: Michael Cera, Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart, M. Emmet Walsh
Directed by: Miguel Arteta
Premise: The journal of Nick Twisp, an 18-year old high school student, who goes on a quest to lose his virginity after his parent's breakup.
Nice trailer. Good to see Cera taking on a bit darker seeming material. Not a fan of that poster, though. "Revolution" in quotes is kind of weak, and I don't know if people have really heard of the book, because it needs to be marketed more strongly.
This looks great. Gamblour have you read the book?

I read a few chapters, but lost interest. It looks like it would've been worth finishing.

I thought about getting it. I may just do before watching the movie.

I read Fight Club. Wouldn't it be the same?
Weinstein Co. delays 'Revolt'
Studio pushes back release to Jan. 15
Source: Variety
The Weinstein Co. has delayed potential awards contender "Youth in Revolt," starring Michael Cera, from Oct. 30 to Jan. 15.
TWC made the move Thursday on the heels of premiering the comedy, directed by Miguel Arteta, at the Toronto Film Festival.
"After the fantastic response from audiences and critics at the Toronto Film Festival, we chose Jan. 15 as the best date to release 'Youth in Revolt,' " a Dimension Films rep said. "Not only will this smart comedy be great counterprogramming to some of the heavier fare at that time of year, but this date will allow the film to play some more festivals and continue to build word of mouth."
Pic's produced by David Permut and based on the novel "Youth in Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp" by C.D. Payne.
The Jan. 15 weekend already has Warner Bros. launching "Book of Eli" and TWC with a "Hoodwinked Too" sequel. The departure of "Youth in Revolt" from the Halloween frame leaves "Michael Jackson's This Is It" from Sony as the only wide opener that weekend.
It's the second title that TWC's moved out of October, as it recently slotted "The Road" for a Nov. 25 wide release, where it will be in competition with another TWC awards hopeful -- the musical "Nine," directed by Rob Marshall and starring Daniel Day-Lewis.
these movie delays are starting to piss me off.

this looks pretty hilarious. cera is perfectly casting actually.
the prick does get the girl in la strada though.
This could actually be pretty great. If nothing else, it has some fantastic lines.
"I'm going to wrap your legs around my head and wear you like the crown that you are."
Awesome.
This was pretty good. Cera was really great.
It was actually so good that I was a little disappointed. If it had been just a little better, it could have been a really great movie or if it had tried a little less, it could have been a really enjoyable teen comedy.
Instead it sits somewhere between.
I think what it suffers from the most is trying to cram too much into too little.
Still, really enjoyable.
RK, you summed up my thoughts too. It was very funny while watching it, and Cera was terrific, but afterwards I felt it was lacking something that would have pushed it to another level.
I saw a teaser for this during adult swim recently and when listing the stars, it said "Zach Galifa--- the guy from the Hangover." I was pretty stunned, I mean, at least Out Cold hasn't reverberated in his career, but what is this shit?

RK hit the nail on the head. Couldn't have said it better.

yeah. it's also great marketing because it reminds stupid people of who that guy is.
I just saw this and it's really fucking funny why is it so under the radar?
i remember thinking kind of the same thing after watching it, but i can't remember anything about the movie right now. is that the problem?

Haha... YES! I remember seeing this thread and thinking "Did I see Youth in Revolt"? and then coming here and realizing which movie it was. So forgettable.
