Malkovich, Brolin set for 'Hex'
Duo set for WB's comic adaptation
Source: Variety
John Malkovich will square off against Josh Brolin in "Jonah Hex," the Warner Bros. adaptation of the DC Comics property that begins production in April.
Legendary Pictures has joined the project as co-financier and co-producer.
Malkovich will play Turnbull, a wealthy Southern plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. He blames Hex, a former confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter and gunslinger. Jimmy Hayward ("Horton Hears a Who") is directing the script by "Crank" scribes Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Mad Chance's Andrew Lazar is producing with Weed Road's Akiva Goldsman.
Malkovich, most recently seen in "Burn After Reading" and "Changeling," is currently presiding over the Mexico opening of "The Good Canary," a Zack Helm-penned play that Malkovich directed. The play, which bowed in France, was translated into Spanish, and Diego Luna is starring in the feature.
Megan Fox lines up two film projects
Actress circling comic adaptations 'Jonah Hex,' 'Fathom'

Megan Fox is ditching the robots and taking her career to Western and underwater frontiers.
Fox is in final negotiations to star opposite Josh Brolin and John Malkovich in "Jonah Hex," Warner Bros.' action Western based on the DC Comics character. She also is attached to star and develop "Fathom," Fox Atomic's comic book-based underwater adventure.
In "Hex," being directed by Jimmy Hayward, Fox will play Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and love interest of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malkovich) who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South.
The movie is prepping for a shoot in April, with Mad Chance's Andrew Lazar and Weed Road's Akiva Goldsman producing.
"Fathom," a comic created by recently deceased artist Michael Turner, follows a young woman named Aspen who learns she is a member of a race of aquatic humanoids who possess the ability to control water.
The project was at one point set up at James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. When the option lapsed, producer Peter Safran scooped it up and began packaging it, eventually attracting Fox, a fan of the comic since its 1998 debut, when it became the top-selling comic of the year. Fox had been seeking Turner to investigate "Fathom's" rights availability.
Fox is now helping develop and shape the adaptation, which is being written by Jordan Mechner, the creator of video game "Prince of Persia." (The ICM-repped scribe also wrote on Disney's Jerry Bruckheimer-produced adaptation.)
Safran is producing with Steve Bessen and "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" actor Brian Austin Green. Fox also will produce in some capacity.
Turner will be credited as exec producer. Frank Mastromauro also is exec producing. Zak Kadison and Eric Lieb at Atomic will oversee.
Although Fox began her acting career with the comedy "Hope and Faith," it was her feature debut in "Transformers" that set her on the road to becoming one of the top female names in Hollywood. Her appearance on the cover of GQ late last year propelled her to become a sex symbol, setting records for the magazine's sales and its Web site.
ICM-repped Fox next appears in this summer's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and stars in the Diablo Cody-penned comedic supernatural thriller movie "Jennifer's Body," which opens in the fall. She recently appeared in the comedy "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People."

Will Arnett joins 'Jonah Hex'
Michael Shannon also comes aboard action Western
Source: Hollywood Reporter
Will Arnett and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon are boarding "Jonah Hex," Warner Bros. and Legendary's action Western based on the DC Comics character.
Jimmy Hayward is directing "Hex," whose cast also includes Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Megan Fox. It's the story of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malk¬ovich) who wants to raise an army of the undead to liberate the South.
Arnett will play a Union soldier who enlists Hex and is blindsided by the dirty fighting style of his enemies. The role is not inherently comic.
Shannon plays Doc Cross Williams, the bizarre ringleader of a brutal gladiator circus event. The character might appear in sequels.
Legendary is co-producing and co-financing the pic, which is due to start production this month in Louisiana.
Arnett, repped by Endeavor and Principato Young Entertainment, voices the Missing Link in DreamWorks Animation's hit "Monsters vs. Aliens" and will appear in "When In Rome" with Kristen Bell and the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "G-Force," both from Disney. He is one of the voices in Fox's "Sit Down, Shut Up" animated series and is working on a 2010 pilot for Fox.
Shannon received an Oscar nomination for "Revolutionary Road." Repped by CAA and manager Byron Wetzel, the actor recently completed filming Werner Herzog's "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done."
EXCLUSIVE: Megan Fox Talks 'Jonah Hex,' Her Mysterious Character — And Shooting People
Source: MTV
For obvious reasons, people are excited about the upcoming film adaptation of "Jonah Hex." And for even more obvious reasons, men are excited to see Megan Fox's performance in the film.
Now, the stunner is finally talking about her deadly, beautiful and mysterious femme fatale.
"That movie is gonna be amazing," explained the "Transformers" star. "It's a post-civil war, apocalyptic type Western. The director Jimmy [Hayward] is a lunatic, and he might be a genius. From some of the things I've seen him shoot, it's a badass movie."
One of the big questions that have emerged since Fox's on-set photos have emerged is a simple one: What character is she playing? And the answer is that it's someone even the most die-hard fan of the comic series probably won't remember.
"They've changed her name a couple of times — it's Leila now," Fox explained. "She is a prostitute. She's a good ol' working girl, and she's a love-interest to Jonah... of sorts. I mean, it's by no means a classic type of relationship."
"She wasn't really featured in the comics," Fox said of her character. "Her name was initially Liala, and now they changed it — or it was Layla, and now they changed it to Leila. ... All the women in the movie are prostitutes. ... [I'm] sort of a tough, no-nonsense prostitute. Like, she'll shoot you in the head if she has to. And she does!"
Asked if she means that literally, Fox revealed that she definitely gets to wield a handgun in the flick. "Not in the head," she grinned. "[But I get to shoot someone] somewhere."
Co-starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Will Arnett, "Jonah Hex" hits theaters everywhere August 6, 2010.

at first i thought "brolin's too good for this.." but then i realised he probly hasn't made much money choosing to work with directors whose films barely make a cent..
also, i read bit about the director and this is his first live action film. he used to be an animator for pixar and then he did Horton Hears a Who, whatever that means.. (who even remembers that movie ever happening -- over $300million worldwide does, that's who!). so i think this might be brolin cashing in for all the hard work he's been doing, also imdb says he's lined up MIB:III already. so i guess he's planning for True Grit making around 49cents.

All the women in the movie are prostitutes.
It's nice to finally have a movie where all the women are actual prostitutes instead of just sluts as usual.
