I saw this last night and was very happy. Very impressed. Julia does her best work since 'Closer', also with Owen and before that 'Full Frontal'. Owen was really really fantastic. Tom Wilkinson, if he only has three scenes, knocks them out of the park. Giamatti was not so surprising but solid as always and the story while a bit complicated if you are not paying attention, has some fun moments. This was made because of the writing which is quite magnificent and between moments of Clive and Julia exasperates the same type of aura that you might find in 'Bringing Up Baby'. The main theme of this film is trust and whether or not (when we live in a world of deception) we can love another...
This is in the spirit of the old spy thrillers of the 1970's with the wit that is so closely attached to 30's screwball comedies.
A definite rental. Julia really did it. So fucking goood and gorgeous.
thanks for the recommendation. I read it and just started calling people I know to see who wanted to go. I love a convincing spy movie, and this one was really entertaining. it was a good love story too. some beats might've been too obvious and some moments felt like Ocean's 11, but in general it was really fun and fast-paced.
This was a lot of fun. Very sexy and suspenseful, expertly written and acted. I think I liked it better than Michael Clayton, and I loved that movie.
Go see it!
I'll chalk this one up to bad marketing, then, because the trailers made this look incredibly bland and uninteresting.

Yeah the ho-hum marketing/trailers do not do it justice at all. I had felt the same way.

seriously better than clayton? damn the trailer of this one is gonna make me look like a jerk. I've been saying it looks like shit for weeks and now everyone is telling me it's really good.
Go see it Pas. So so soooooo great. Gonna be in my top ten for sure.
It was like a David Mamet script, shot like a Ocean's 11 film, acted like His Girl Friday. It fired on all cylinders.
spot on.
Fine, I'll put it on my Netflix queue! You people are relentless.
i hated the soundtrack, i thought it oversold the comedy, which would've been funnier had it been played more seriously, and the plot was so intricate i stopped caring about halfway in only to rejoin it later. otherwise fairly enjoyable.
