That's not stealing... a teaser trailer almost never has music from the actual film.

I'm definitely going to see this... his movies are always good for a laugh.

I exaggerated, he ain't a hack or a thief, but, that music was made or arranged* for the shining, SK didn't use it in the movie so he used it in the trailer.

* I don't remember if Wendy Carlos was the composer of that piece or if she took something already made like the intro of the film and arranged it.

Between this and Crystal Skull, Chris Carter must be scratching his head as to what an X-Files threequel would look like if he did go the mythology route.

Sony delays Emmerich's '2012'
Action film moves from July 10 to Nov. 13
Source: Variety

Sony is pushing back the release of Roland Emmerich's actioner "2012" from July 10 to Nov. 13, the same date the studio used to launch the previous two James Bond pics.

Sony prexy of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer said the studio has a very strong summer slate -- including tentpole "Angels and Demons" (May 15) and Denzel Washington-John Travolta actioner "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" (June 12) -- and it made sense to move "2012" to November.

Also, Sony has international distribution rights to McG's "Terminator: Salvation," which opens day-and-date on May 22. Warners is releasing domestically.

Sony said "2012" would have been ready in time for July 10.

In its new date, the Emmerich pic goes up against Warner Bros.' Robert Downey Jr. topliner "Sherlock Holmes," which likewise opens Nov. 13, along with 20th Century Fox family film "Tooth Fairy."

On Nov. 20, four titles enter the market, including Sony's family toon "Planet 51" and "Twilight" sequel "New Moon."

The decision to take "2012" out of July -- prime summer B.O. real estate -- will prompt other studios to review their release calendars and see if moving something to the July 10 slot makes sense.

Every time I see this, I think that someone finally made a movie out of Rush's 2112.

I love this type of shit (apocalypse, end of the world type shit) but this just looks corny. It will probably be fun, but I can guarantee it won't be good.

The Road is the end of the world movie to see this year. And also Antichrist.

it just occurred to me that this story has no way of resolving itself
i mean, how are they going to battle everything destroying itself and also not having ground

That's a logical question. Unfortunately in most action films you have to leave your brain at the door. I'm sure they will find a way, but it won't be riveting or creative enough for you guys. I'm still looking forward to this spectacle but I know I'm really going to have to suspend disbelief.

This was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had at the theater.  DO NOT WAIT FOR DVD!  It's the sort of movie that can only be entertaining when it's 30 feet tall.  Emmerich spends a little too long on the build-up, and there are a few too many repetitive scenes of tearful phone conversations in the moments before some peripheral character is claimed by the apocalypse, but once shit starts to get real, you will be along for the ride.  It's just a gift that keeps on giving; I saw it with two friends, and we spent two hours at a restaurant afterward doing nothing but cracking up as we recalled all the insane, ridiculous, brilliant nonsense that filled the two-and-a-half hour running time.

Highlights:
- Outrunning the collapse of Los Angeles in a limo.
- Outrunning a nuclear-sized (three mushroom clouds worth!) volcanic eruption in an RV.
- John Cusack, on foot, catching up to an airplane taking off and jumping on board at the last moment.
- President Danny Glover's last words (possible Sanford & Son reference... awesome either way).
- Chiwetel Ejiofor's calculations always being wrong.
- Elliot Gould's totally unnecessary character.
- Constant (doritos) product (bentley) placement (sony vaio).

Winner:
- Russian guy launching his kid up onto the ramp as it closes. I couldn't breathe, I was laughing so hard.  I almost died.

Overall score: Infinite-and-a-half stars (out of 4)

Ha. When I was watching 2012, George Segal came onscreen and I thought, "Man, if I'd never seen The Long Goodbye, I would never have known that dude was pretty fucking cool." then I realized I was mixing up those very same actors and then I realized I do that a lot.

Best last lines of a movie EVER:

"No more Pull-Up's, daddy."

John Cusack looks out into the bright setting sun; repeating to himself...

"No more Pull-Up's."

Music swells. Fade To Black.

Jesus fucking Christ, this movie. I've always had a soft spot for Emmerich and his eternal Jihad against America and her monuments but this plays like Roland Emmerich's greatest hits and not in a good way. And Polka is right, this film is acceptable as comedy, an intentional self-parody because it's hard to believe that when they finished the screenplay they thought 'Yeah, I can take this seriously, this will be good'.

One of the funniest film of 2009.
