seriously, fuck this remake, even though it features two of my biggest celebrity crushes (kathy bates and jen con). keanu reeves is not exactly the first name that comes to mind when i think "super-intelligent extraterrestrial being".. :doh:

This was pretty bad.
I wanted to see it cause I like Keanu, plus John Hamm and Kyle Chandler are usually great, but not in this one :ponder:
Robert Wise is rolling over in his grave... to take it in the ass. They completely raped the original. So much so that they don't even use the classic line "Klaatu barada nikto." So Gort is really made up of tiny locust-like mechanical bugs here to eat destroy the world. And Klaatu is here to deliver a message to the people of Earth to change their ways, but he only ends up telling three people. Riiiight. Will Smith's son was annoying I was hoping for an alien probe for him. The only one who came out of this clean was Keanu. His rigid acting was a perfect fit for this role.
It pisses me off when Jennifer Connelly does movies like this. I know she needs to put food on Paul Bettany's table, but after giving two of my favorite performances ever (Waking the Dead and Requiem), seeing her in paycheck movies like this is just frustrating.
and how about Will Smith's son??? that kid is MISERABLE.
He has yet to give one of my favorite performances ever.
so i watched this on an airplane the other day. it felt like they cut a half hour out of it, or is it really that uneven and disconnected? plus after friday night lights i can't take kyle chandler seriously as an ass hole.
i liked keanu in it quite a bit though. i understand the humor of him playing a rigid alien character, but there were a lot of subtle things he threw in there. for example, the look he gives connolly when she tells him to run, just the right amount of curiosity mixed with concern. all in all it was pretty dreadful though.

I do like Keanu especially in the Matrix but I don't think he was the best part of the movie ?

Its all subjective on what awesome movies are and that can be debated...but what are they? They're soo terrible as films that they go into the awesome catagory. For instance anything dealing with a lobster man or a bunny boy with x ray eyes who does porn films.

Yes I do agree that the list you gave range from awesome to pretty good, but Keanu is not the best thing in any of them (especially Point Break)
anyway I guess you meant that Keanu can be in great and also in terrible movies right ?
