I just went through my whole... well two opposite emotions whilst reading that.

I want to feel the same way......
Wow, I gotta admit, I enjoyed this WAY more than I know I should have. I've never been a fan of "the other" Paul Anderson, think he is a bigger than hack than Brett Ratner, but here he seemed to have grown and found his inner Michael Bay, which is to say, he directed a better caliber of blow-it-up-real-good shit than he's used to. I dunno why Joan Allen is in this dreck, but she plays an excellent Bitch. It's really not a remake of Roger Corman's cult classic, gone is the cross country race aspect and the black humor of the original (I missed them racking up points for hitting pedestrians), but it does deliver some great action and race scenes.
This was well worth the purchase for the blu-ray disc and man what a rediculous ride. So much fun, so much stupidity and Joan Allen seems to revel in its just awful bad-ness. She really knows how to play a complete Cunt. This is nonsense that really has been taken to another level of amazing. Mac is right this 'other' paul has found his inner michael bay and it works for him. A couple of years from now, when you find this blu-ray in the bargain bin, pick it up.
you guys are nuts. finding his inner Michael Bay - wow. i watched this at work today. about as bad as say... Cellular. leave this one in the bin cos it could never be a bargain.
haha.
