Well I just saw it and I really enjoyed it. Not so great, and I could tell it was from the same guy that wrote Training Day before even knowing it. Casting is interesting, and Keanu is very Keanu but he still rocks in my book.
Not bad to watch on a boring 3 hour plane ride like I did...
Surprising, violent, solid filmmaking and the dialogue was very quick. Was impressed that it was written by James Ellroy. Wondered if the director changed the script at all. Keanu does well in these roles.
Forest Whitaker was excellent in this.
I would love to see David Ayer do a series about the LAPD for HBO.
Yeah, you thought? I actually thought he phoned it in when I was watching it. Reaves was okay too. The whole movie can be summed up by the same adjective. Nothing is especially terrible but nothing is especially outstanding either. Like a bad LA Confidential.
