I'm a 14-year old boy from Germany and I'm a real big PTA-Fan. I have seen all of his films and they were all really fantastic.
But I got in some kind of way a guilty conscience because I watch in my age a film like "Boogie Nights" (you know, strong sex scenes, strong language, violence).
What do you think about this?
Spike

You should turn yourself in immediately.
But seriously, if you understand the movies, how could there be any harm?
a big :yabbse-thumbup:
And you have come to the right place for more of the same.
I love the name Spike.
we definatly need more europeans on theese boards.
well met.
Spike...never have i been that glad to see a German! Rock on
Spike, there's no reason to feel guilty just because you have great tastes in movies. Rock on little buddy. Oh--and don't become a porn star :)
But you already knew that

Porn star....never? The whole German economy is build on porn!
"The German railroads were build on porn." - Sigur Rós 2003.......
That's what i want them to remember me by!
Dieter: "And now is the time on Sprockets when we dance...".
well i saw boogie when i was 12 and now im one of the youngest lawyers in the country, and very rich, so...yeah i guess it does make you evil. never mind.
ahhh...fooey!!! I got hauled into the principal's office in 5th grade, for a parent conference, cause I mention Silence of the Lambs was my favorite movie.....they critizined my parents for taking me...and went off about how bad of a movie it was....Me and the Academy disaggreed with that!!!
Needless to say, I only turned out to be a movie lover and not a cannibalistic mass murderer...
To put an age limit on movies is dumb....totally depends on the kid, and how sheltered their upbringing is....if the kid is touch with reality, view on.....
Hell fucking no man, don't be ashamed at all. I'm 16 now, I became a fan of BN when I was like 14 or 15 and I never felt bad...it was one of the greatest feelings ever, I felt like I had discovered something that nobody else in school or in my town knew about. I've talked to people in school about BN ever since and not one of them has ever even heard of it. It was like my secret. Same feelings came when I became a fan of Magnolia and PDL and Hard Eight...and then all the other awesome filmmakers teens don't know the names of (everybody except Spielberg and Burton).
I'm feeling the same way about David Gordon Green now...check him out now if you haven't by the way.
guilty? ahhhhhh youre so precious.
Should you have a guilty consience because you have great taste? Hell no. You dig PTA while others your age probably worship 'xXx'. Bask in the glory.
Dont feel guilty, feel better than everybody else

blow me, oakman. just blow me.
Why? Cause of my 'xXx' comment? 'xXx' eats ass. Dissapointing as hell.
And Spike, out of pure curiosity, what PTA film did you like most?
now you've pissed me off...
ain't i a stinkah?
Don't get your knickers in a twist, taz.
I confess that I am a major hypocrit because I own a copy of 'xXx' (which I got for free) and it doesn't FULLY eat ass. Diesel's cool. I just found it dissapointing and a bit corny at times (the film thinks its slicker than it really is). Diesel was WAY cooler in 'Fast & the Furious'. And 'xXx' finale sux. But I'll see the sequel.
Oh, who put that pic of Diesel on my Author thingee (as you can tell I'm new to message boards) or does a pic automatically come up after a number of posts or something???????
ANYWAY, isn't PTA great..........
Quote from: neatahwantaDieter: "And now is the time on Sprockets when we dance...".
hahaha
My favourite PTA flick is "Magnolia" - it's so powerful, very good actors, real feelings and very individual destiny's - that's great!
But I really liked "Boogie Nights", too.
I LOVED the scene with Alfred Molina as Rahad Jackson - the rich and mad Junkie with chinese boys running through the house and throw firecrackers - that's so funny. And the camera work by Robert Elswit in this film is fantastic - I just say: The beginning scene - from the street into the deepness of the Maurice's night club - wonderful!
Spike
The svimmingpool-scene in Boogie Nights is also top-nutch :-D
PT fans can come in all shapes and sizes. It's really personality that determines whether or not you like his movies.
No need to be ashamed.
"Hook 'em while they're young" is what tobacco giants have said for years...oh, wait, probably not a good example. Never-the-less continue to not be ashamed of what you like, because it's what makes you...you.

yeah... that was me being an asshole. I'll take it off.
hey, here`s another german! You said, you want more europeens, so here I am. I love PTA, but it´s hard to find anyone in Germany who knows who HE is. Punch Drunk Love starts next week and the last months I heard so often how wonderful it is and couldn´t see it. Now I read that in the U.S. there´s the DVD out and we stupid germans couldn´t see it yet! Next thursday, I´ll force all my friends to watch PDL and to be absolutly fascinated.

Its hard to find anybody in the US who knows who he is. I was delighted today to hear Adam Sandler mention him on Howard Stern,
