anyone seen this?  I just got it off netflix.  It was something Spike Lee directed for Showtime back in 2004.  it's as good as anything Spike's done, though the scale is smaller and the stories are smaller.  It focuses on a white kid, a black kid, and an Asian kid, each belonging to his gang in San Francisco, and their interactions with one another.  I know that type of street story is something Spike's shied away from in recent years, but this one is really great.  Anthony Mackie burned up the celluloid in this film.  I can't even find a trailer for this film on youtube.

I bought this on DVD sight unseen a couple years back... I loved it.

Unfortunately, it also infuriated me. As much as it provided a reasonable conclusion, it was still a two-hour pilot for what never was.

Showtime really had something terrific, that could rival the best that HBO offers if done right, and they totally fucking dropped the ball.

I haven't watched it again since.
