hell, it didn't need to be repeated that time. it wasn't his main point. and to state the obvious, this is an uncommon year

I mean, it's not that big of a deal. Who's to say Phantom Thread's success without a festival hasn't influenced Paul's decision making?  It's a valid point by Mattbish IMO.

Different release dates, different trajectories, etc. It's completely invalid. In this case, they need to push it to December then.

Mank- Netflix (Dec)

2019
1917 (Dec)
Little Women (Dec)

2018
Black Panther (Feb)
Bohemian Rhapsody (Nov)
Vice (Dec)

2017
Dunkirk (July)
Phantom Thread (Dec)
The Post (Dec)

2016
Fences (Dec)
Hidden Figures (Dec)

2015
Mad Max (May)- it did play Cannes week later
The Revenant (Dec)

2013
American Hustle (Dec)
Wolf of Wall Street (Dec)

2012
Django (Dec)
Les Mis (Dec)
Zero Dark 30 (Dec)

2011
Extremely Loud (Dec)
The Help (August)
War Horse (Dec)

2010
The Fighter (Dec)

jb sees the need for further extrapolation rather than a swift end, which okay

the method of observation here employs optimism in the face of unusual circumstances. there are at least two unusual circumstances here 1 the pandemic 2 this movie's rollout. an optimistic perspective finds hopeful potential within the unknown. there are at least two unknowns here 1 why this is happening and 2 what it will mean. it is being suggested than not a dangerous pattern is emerging but rather one that we  are unfamiliar with

Yes

That’s not stopping film festivals from happening this year

If they’re that worried, it’s probably not releasing until 2022

There’s difference between hopeful and being realistic

jenkins

you're not wrong, there's just another perspective possible

Soggy Bottom limited release is only 2 weeks earlier than Phantoms release it's not like they are months  apart.

Yes exactly what mean!

But it’s meaningless

Truly cannot understand why this is so incomprehensible for some of you. There’s being optimistic, and then.. whatever this is

I get that you might think it might get postponed i understand thats unfortunately  not impossible.  However it just seems like you want it to be.

And like I said there hasnt  been any real sign that it might be.

Lets just hope nothing changes and it's ready in time for the planned release at the end of the year yeah.

I truly cannot understand why this is bothering you so much ;p

Reeeeeellllaaaax.

Yes

I don't think it's getting postponed but if it's running this late/skipping fests then it probably should be

I'm just annoyed fanboys are clearly wrong yet confident about what they're posting when everything regarding history contradicts them

Why would I want a film from my favorite director postponed, genius? Especially when I planned on attending NYFF
