Any other fans out there (I saw Cronopio put it 'Now Playing')...? This guy (Owen Pallette) is incredible. He did the string arrangements for Arcade Fire but has now surpassed them in my mind. It's basically just violin and vocals (with occasional drums and piano), and when you see him live (as I did recently - fucking superb) he loops different violin parts with a pedal, just layering it up and up and up. The sound is epic, but also often whimsical and he writes really interesting, sometimes very funny, lyrics. The first album, 'Has a Good Home' is very good but slight in comparison with the unfortunately-named new LP 'He Poos Clouds', which is just MIGHTY.
Nobuo Uematsu's best soundtrack was for the sixth one.

...eh?
Oh come on, my reference was less obscure than the thread itself.
What can I say, I live on the cutting edge. I didn't think it was that obscure - everyone's a fan of Arcade Fire, thought they might be interested in one of its members solo projects... This guy's just all I'm listening to morning noon and night at present.
wait, there is a final fantasy arcade?
Oh WAIT. I actually am on the cutting edge too. My old english teacher (not a teacher of Olde Englysh) went to their concert (hated em) and said there was this amazing violinist who played the weirdest shit that was all timed up and looped with itself.
