seriously...support the indy store (even if it's a little more expensive) if available.

My store doesn't have nearly the foriegn section I would like (tho the spanish section is huge), but i would rather not find something there... than rent it from bluckbuster.  seriously.

Ha ha... you'd hate to live where I live then - Blockbuster has probably the biggest range, now that's a sad state of affairs..

I get Netflix, but when I don't there's a lot to choose from:

Vulcan Video:  Normally where I head first, they have just about everything and either listed by director, country of origin, or both.

I Love Video: they have cool contests and stuff.

Waterloo Video: a little pricey, but a decent selection and the ties with Waterloo Records gets them a lot of celebrities for signings.  Went to return a movie and saw Lloyd Kaufman there last year.

Pedazzo Chunk:  Harry Knowel's sister owns this place, it's really small, but they have shit you can't get anywhere else... including out of region dvds.

Absolutely. Blockbuster in my area closed recently and my level of keeping up with indie films has decreased by 50% automatically. So many movies I want to see, but I'm not going to buy them all just to see them. Because of this, I am seriously looking to maybe Netflix but thats dissapointing. There's a fun of getting up and going out and spending a half hour looking through the video store for a movie. I kinda hate anything mail related.

Weird. Oh

Ha. Well actually I work at BB part time, but yeah it really sucks. They have little to no selection in older titles or smaller release films. I just really started getting into movies too. I like my 5 free rentals, but honestly if I didn't work there I would go someplace else. The thing is there are really no indy stores in philly (where I live) that are in a convient proximity to my  locale. The funny thing in my store is that I'm known to a few customers that are movie lovers as the guy with good taste because I'm the only one on the staff that enjoys the smaller release titles. I always recommend them to everyone but most people skip over them for some piece of crap title like Legally Blonde or something like that.  :(
The more arguments you win, the fewer friends you will have.

Although not local. DeepDiscountDVD.com is the best video store, they have the best prices on criterion releases and plus everything is free shipping. It takes weeks to get your crap but it is well worth it.
Falling in love is the greatest joy in life. Followed closely by sneaking into a gated community late at night and firing a gun into the air.

A and G video
