guess not a lot of ppl saw we need to talk about kevin, because that at the very least should have had Tilda Swinton for best female performance.  :yabbse-sad:

also surprised by the lack of love for tinker tailor..

other than the above, its all good.

modage

'Kevin' missed it by a hair. Get out the vote, y'all!
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Fernando

what happened to the DVD category? not enough votes?

I actually didnt put a single one because I havent bought one in ages.

Sleepless

Not a bad list considering there's been a number of divisive films this year, although there's a number of categories where I know who I'm going to vote for simply as a matter of elimination. Oh, and Kristen Fucking Wigg? Seriously?
He held on. The dolphin and all the rest of its pod turned and swam out to sea, and still he held on. This is it, he thought. Then he remembered that they were air-breathers too. It was going to be all right.

Mostly lack of votes. Only 2 DVDs got more than 1 vote, and one of those actually won last year. So yes... the DVD category is a dead category right now. Which is fine.

Something similar happened in the Animated Feature category. The two films up for voting got 7-8 votes each. Nothing else got more than 1 vote. Which is also fine.

But the voting turnout was healthy in the other categories... even Poster and Trailer.

Maybe if Criterion steps up their game, the category will be back next year.

Oh, and Kristen Fucking Wigg? Seriously?

I kind of got the sense from that category that people were just racking their brains trying to remember five movies from last year with a female lead.

Reel

This was the Shame poster I nominated for. I guess it got banned so not a lot of people got to see it:

Ok, I didn't vote this year because there's a painful amount of films I've yet to see. I've only seen Drive, Melancholia and Tree of Life. I also specifically didn't vote because I love this place's taste and now i have a list of films i must see before March 16th:

Midnight in Paris - Still playing in a small theater in the shitty part of town, I'll see this Monday.

All out on dvd,blu-ray, instant video so i have no excuse:
The Skin I Live In - Same as above
Submarine
Martha Marcy May Marlene
Moneyball
Hugo

Young Adult - Not out till March 13th
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - Not out on video till March 20th
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Not out til March 20th, but it is still playing in a couple theaters.
Tyrannosaur - Not out on video till April 10th
Shame - Not out til April 17th
The Fartist - On dvd....?
Should i just DL these?

Midnight in Paris is also out on instant video via iTunes (so you can rent it for $4 or $5). Might be better than going to a small theater in the shitty part of town...

malkovich

No 'A Separation' for best screenplay?

*sighs*

Not enough people saw it, I guess.

Pubrick

Oh, they saw it. They just didn't read the subtitles.

I'm with you malkovich, I put it down, was surprised not to see it here actually. My votes will be in by the end of the day today.
