"There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high - water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." - Hunter S. Thompson.

As far as movies I can watch no matter the mood, I'm thinking...

Schizopolis
Office Space
Pulp Fiction
Boogie Nights

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks
Do The Right Thing
Rules of Attraction
Annie Hall

I guess a really stylized movie that's eye candy or somethign with funny dialogue.
"As a matter of fact I only work with the feeling of something magical, something seemingly significant. And to keep it magical I don't want to know the story involved, I just want the hypnotic effect of it somehow seeming significant without knowing why." - Len Lye

I can watch all sorts of movies repeatedly but I don't have time to actually pay attention and watch often.  I do have the movies that are always ending up in stacks on my bedroom VCR/DVD players though.  Usually I put in this sort of movie so I can go to sleep.  Somehow hearing something familair to me at a lower than normal volume helps me sleep, sort of like listening to the older family members talk into the night after I had been put to bed as a kid...anyway...

Billy Madison
Beautiful Girls
Meet The Parents
Annie Hall, Everyone Says I Love You, Purple Rose of Cairo, Mighty Aphrodite
The Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore
Arthur
Babe and Babe II: Pig in the City
Sixteen Candles
Parentood
Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski
Office Space
Flirting with Disaster
Almost Famous and Say Anything
Christmas Vacation
Bridget Jone's Diary (and a bunch of other embarassing English chick-y things)  (as well as embarassing chick-y Nora Ephron flicks)  I guess it's not quite as embarassing as it might be if I was a guy.
sex, lies, and videotape
Umbrellas of Cherbourg

PTA and QT films wake me up.
I just met a wonderful new man. He's fictional but you can't have everything.
