Exhibit A for the origin story of PTA's early potty mouth.  LOL

And then an Ernie Anderson bio on PM Magazine

I would be willing to bet that that's an 8 year old PTA in a tie playing pool at about 5 minutes 55 seconds in.

He really did get the perfect person to play his dad, didn't he? Ernie and Robards have the same vibe big time.

Sure do!

Couldn't resist.  Here's another one:

Family photo with PTA and co in joke glasses with nose and 'stache at 4:08.  :)

Yes

That's sweet. I hear so much of Philip Baker Hall, as well

Does anybody know anything about PTA's relationship with weed? Is he or have ever been a smoker?

Or is cocaine in the early days and cigarettes the only 'vice' that we know of?

wilberfan

Some would argue veganism...

This answer is not very satisfying Wilberfan!!!

I think he must do it, I've just never even heard him mention the subject of  marijuana, really. His hero Robert Altman was widely known as THE pothead director and maybe he noticed the stigma of that and wants to be taken more seriously.

...Altman was widely known as THE pothead director...

I would have said Hal Ashby.

I could've sworn PTA has mentioned pot more recently but I can't seem to place where I heard it.  In the build up to LP I watched like every interview ever on Xixax TV, so it's easy to get time periods jumbled.  And yeah, Altman was a major pothead.

Rooty Poots

During the promotion of Inherent Vice, he said "I don't smoke that much weed."
