This is a really excellent movie from Hong Kong. I watched it in the Palm Springs Film Festival and heard that they already sold the remake rights and Brad Pitt will be involved.

Has anybody seen this? Its really good. I dont know where you can see it as its not in wide release... Miramax is distributing it but I believe they are making the festival circuit now...

You can find the original DVD from Hong Kong in some online store... its multi-zone DVD so it should work with no problems. The movie is in mandarin anyways with subtitles.

I saw it.  it was pretty good, great acting, some parts of it felt weird, like the female characters.  But overall it was a really really solid movie.  The editing guy tried to hard though, did a lot of stupid editing tricks.  But seriously, the script is really good.

(finally, someone else on this board who also watches Asian films.  Represent!)

Trailer here.

Release Date: September 17, 2004 (limited)

Starring: Andy Lau, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang, Sammi Cheng

Directed by: Wai Keung Lau, Alan Mak

Premise: The film follows the parallel lives of Ming (Lau), a cop who secretly reports to ruthless Triad crime boss Sam (Eric Tsang); and Yan (Leung), an undercover police officer who poses as a Triad member in Sam's gang. For Yan, the years of living in the criminal underworld have taken their toll, and he longs to return to regular police duty. However, the only person who knows Yan's true identity is his mentor Superintendent Wong (Anthony Wong), also the unsuspecting superior of Ming. When Wong's officers come face to face with Sam's gang, both leaders realize there are moles in their midst. Soon Yan and Ming must track each other down, leading to an inevitable confrontation.

Man, this actually looks pretty sweet.  The shot just before the title in the trailer made me gasp--I haven't gasped in forever.  I'm not a gasper, and yet: I gasped.

yes this was pretty good.  although i agree with pete about the underdeveloped female character storylines.  a decade ago, miramax might've actually gotten some people to see this film.  is dicaprio playing the undercover cop or the crooked cop?  i can see dicaprio wanting to play the crooked cop, but working more interestingly as the undercover cop and damon getting to play the conflicted one.  either way, scorsese is going to direct the shit out of this one.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

A Matter Of Chance

I saw this recently and I liked it... however, I will say, the music bothered me quite a bit. Still, it's well worth seeing.
