I'm here and I'm about to bail.

To L.A. perhaps?  :)

Yeah that's what keeps my sentimentality at bay; what I'm missing is no longer there. Most of my friends fled, too. Last summer seems so much sweeter in retrospect.

Been on a stand-up kick lately and stumbled across this. It's a few years old and has a ton of hits so it might be old news, but I thought it was pretty clever.

Not familiar with either of these comedians and this is probably the best thing they'll ever do... or I could be wrong and they're great and I just don't have a clue.

Ugh god damn it

Jeremy Blackman

Mentioning Read It And Weep in the podcasts thread inspired me to dig into the stand-up of one of its co-hosts. These are both great imo.

Recent stand-up comedy takes:
Adam Sandler: Love You
The sandman still has it and with the Safdie brothers behind it he turns it into something else more than just a comedy special. Another great song to close things out and he uses music all throughout the thing to impress.

John Mulaney is one of my favorites. That's not really a controversial take. All of his specials are great. Right now he's doing the everybody's in LA thing. But I loved his baby J and everything that came before it. I even checked out some of the older stuff that has no video.

I first watched Hannah Gadsby's Nanette 6 years ago and liked it. I have no idea why. I revisited again and it was pretty mediocre. Just gives you whiplash and tries to shame you into liking her. The reason I rewatched it was to prep myself for the other newer stuff she had and get context as to why I liked it so much. It's funny how opinions change over time on some things. And then Douglas was one of the worst stand up acts I've ever seen. Thoughts about it on letterbox.

Anyway, other good stuff. I remember seeing Taylor Tomlinson first on Conan several years ago and thought she's pretty cool and... Several years later she's made it and now has her own show on CBS which is pretty cool. I watch clips every so often on YouTube, which is my primary way of consuming television these days. Anyway, all three of her specials are great.

Nikki Glaser has also made it big with Tom Brady's roast. And then she hosted the Golden globes. Great for her she's another very deserving person. Another person that made a connection with Conan and was a fan of Conan's from early on and it's nice to have seen her come on his show over the years. Yeah she talks about her vagina a lot. But she does so in a way that stands out from a lot of other comediennes. And male comics talk about their dicks a lot so why not. I watched her first special Bangin' several years ago and every visited it and her other two several times. Her first one is very obscene and the other two carry on that theme. But she does it so well.

I liked Pete Davidson's last two specials. His turbo fonzarelli talked a little bit too much about his mom but that's okay. they are close.

Your Friend, Nate Bargatze is really solid. Dude has been at the till for years so it's neat to see him hit such success with what's essentially Clean Dad Humor.
