QuoteReal-life sisters Kate and Rooney Mara are now looking to play fictional sisters as the two are set to star in Bucking Fastard, a new movie from Werner Herzog.

Herzog will write and direct the film, with Ariel Leon Isacovitch and Agnes Chu producing, along with Andrea Bucko and Emanuele Moretti of Cobalt Sky Motion Picture Group. Production is set to start this spring in Ireland and Slovenia.

The film is based on the true story of inseparable twin sisters Joan and Jean, who live on the fringes of society.

The film marks the first time the sisters have worked together. For Rooney, the two-time Oscar nominee was most recently seen in the Orion Pictures drama Women Talking from writer-director Sarah Polley. She is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.

Eddington eyeing Cannes release date

QuoteA24 is bringing "Eddington," Ari Aster's hotly-anticipated original electric thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler, to the European Film Market in Berlin this month, Variety has learned.

Also starring Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward and Clifton Collins Jr., the film is now in post-production and is believed to revolve around a couple stranded in a small New Mexico town. Though they are initially welcomed, the town takes a sinister turn by nightfall. Phoenix portrays the town's sheriff with ambitious dreams.

Variety also understands that "Eddington" could be in contention for Cannes debut — which would make it Aster's first film as director to bow at the festival — with A24 targeting a summer release.

Have to add: as a millennial like Corbet, I find it dispiriting how few English language filmmakers of our generation seem to have what it takes. Their work is almost all so lifeless and inert.

I'll make an exception for the Safdie bros.

Well, PTA and his work will long be remembered. Meanwhile, these bean-counting bootlicking "wannabes" will fast be relegated to the dustbin of history, worthless and forgotten.
