Question: TRUE ROMANCE / NATURAL BORN KILLERS / FROM DUSK TIL DAWN ?
okay, how about this one? favorite Tarantino interpretation? as in, which one of these Tony Scott/Oliver Stone/Robert Rodriguez directed, (Tarantino scripted) movies was your favorite? (feel free to make this a poll).
I can't choose. I love all three equally. From Dusk Till Dawn was closest to Tarantino's style in terms of color and dialouge. True Romance was more serious and lacked some of the color (though still GREAT) and Natural Born Killers is its own intentity.
I really like From Dusk Till Dawn...
when I watch True Romance...I can't help to think about how different/better it would be had Tarantino directed it. With From Dusk Till Dawn...there is a little bit of Tarantino style.
hard to say. i think i watch nbk more often though.
you are all girls...
1True Romance
2Natural Born Killers

i fear there will be similar differences of opinions over kill bill. i believe that pretty much anyone who goes "blah charlie angels rip off" at the trailer just doesnt get it and probably wont like the film. this is the same for dusk till dawn, its total cheeze exploitation cinema. some like it, others dont. (look at taz, he like everyhting cheezy and sucky  )
I'm actually really glad QT didn't direct any of these. It's nice to see other people handling his stuff and, in the case of NBK, rewriting it and turning it into something almost 100% different (and quite arguably better) than what Tarantino would have done with it.
So of those, Natural Born Killers would be my favorite, and also the best (I'd go into how brilliant it is, but that's a whole different thread). True Romance is second, and From Dusk Till Dawn is a very definite third. The whole argument about how it feels like two different movies is certainly true, but I think that's the point. It's fun, for the most part.
How about that behind the scenes doc on NBK? It's almost as awesome as the movie itself.
honestly?
1. FROM DUSK TILL DAWN
2. TRUE ROMANCEE
3. NATURAL BORN KILLERS
Man, I love all those films equally. But if I had to...
1)FDTD
2)NBK
3)TR
I get annoyed now when all hell breaks out in FDTD, I just want them to carry along as normal.

Rock on, Duck...... 8)
Although I would have liked Tarantino to direct True Romance....(despite the fact that for all intents and purposes he wrote the script with himself in it)......
I loved all three, but for sake of choosing:
1.True Romance
2.Natural Born Killers
3.From Dusk til dawn
nbk was rewritten by two different writers after stone got a hold of it. stone had said that he liked tarantino's original script, but essentially it was a B-movie, and he wanted to do something more.
On a similar note, I'd like to see Tarantino direct someone else's script, just to see what it would turn out like.

Well, he
did adapt Rum Punch, y'know. ;) And really, it's HARD doing an adaptation of someone else's work. Writing a screenplay from a book is very similar in theory to directing someone else's screenplay.
NBK. I love what Stone did to it. I read parts of the original script over the net and I really think it was tweeked to perfection. True Romance and Dusk Till Dawn were both great too, but NBK just took more risks and had better acting.
TRUE ROMANCE
NBK
FDTD
^
i only just saw from dusk till dawn so i can finally give my list:
1. True Romance
2. NBK
3. FDTD (sucked!-had potential until the vampire bit)
I really need to give True Romance a second look. I watched a really fucking lame VHS about 4 years ago and couldn't really make much of it. And since there's no portuguese DVD, I didn't see it again since. I have to.
NBK is a great film and I read the draft of the screenplay by Tarantino and although I enjoyed it, I really happy Oliver Stone did what he did.

FDTD sucks? I disagree my friend. George Clooney's character
in FDTD is in the top 10 of badest mutherfuckin' badasses in a
film. My only complaint about FDTD....Salma Hayek didn't get naked.

hahaha, i agree.
nope, your wrong. it sucked.
i dont dislike any of those films, but Quentin should truly direct his own scripts.

perhaps you suck for being about 7 years too late for the film?

actually, avoiding the film for that long was a smart decision. most people would call it a piece of shit if it weren't tarantino. apart from the slight presence of tarantino's style that is evident in the first half, which wasn't enough to save the film, what the fuck was good about it?

Well, it was just a fun vampire slasher kind of movie. Those cool characters from the first half of the film were thrown into a vampire movie and the only way out of there (for those who survived, that is) was to just blow up as many weirdos asthey could without ever stop beeing cool (especially Quentin and Clooney). And then you got lines like "Did they look like psychos? Is that what they looked like? They were vampires. Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a fuck how crazy they are. "
Yeah, that's a pretty bad flick. Some of the dialogue did make me cringe, although it's still fun to watch all the gore. I'm a sucker for that stuff if the mood hits me...
1. True Romance
2. From Dusk Till Dawn
3. Natural Born Killers
FDTD Is fine until the vampire stuff, then it's just stupid. Although in a fun way. NBK is 3rd only because I read Tarantino's version and really wish I could see it. I like Stone's version too, but it's pretty damned heavy handed. TR is great fun, although, I wish Tarantino directed it.
