Yeah, at this point most of the original-era members have either gone on to live their lives (and some have become successful within the film industry!) or sort of vanished only to reappear every now and again like a spectral steed through the mist. But the community is still active! He have a discord where we discuss all things entertainment, and keep our finger on the pulse of One Battle After Another.

QuoteThe film follows sisters Nora and Agnes, who reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star. Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.

Trier wrote the film with his longtime writing partner Eskil Vogt. Starring are Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning. Neon has already picked the film up for U.S. distribution. Mubi has taken all rights in the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Turkey, and India. mk2 Films is on international sales.

Trier's last film, The Worst Person In The World, debuted at Cannes in 2023. Reinsve starred and won the festival's Best Actress award. The Worst Person In The World went on to nab two Oscar noms, including Best Screenplay for Trier and Vogt.

Cannes First Look

The History of Sound is an upcoming historical romantic drama film directed by Oliver Hermanus. Based on the short story of the same name by Ben Shattuck, it is about the relationship between two men (Josh O'Connor and Paul Mescal) who meet in 1916 and then travel together in the summer of 1919 to record the folk songs of their countrymen in rural New England.

The film will have its world premiere at the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, where it will compete for the Palme d'Or.

Worked on this last spring in New Jersey! The thought of having been on a potential Palme d'Or winner is an exciting one. Can't wait to see it :)

QuoteAlpha, a troubled 13-year-old lives with her single mom. Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm

QuoteFour years after Julia Ducournau won the Palme d'Or with her jaw-dropping body horror car sex drama "Titane," the filmmaker is back on the Cannes Croisette with her "Alpha."

Ducournau's third feature which, like "Titane," will be distributed by Neon, centers on a titular teen whose life is upended after a mysterious decision. The film's official logline reads: "Alpha (Mélissa Boros) is a troubled 13 year old who lives with her single mom (Golshifteh Farahani). Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm." Tahar Rahim, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield, and Louai El Amrousy star.

"Alpha" is premiering in competition at Cannes, with Ducournau being one of seven female directors with new films in the main competition. Kelly Reichardt will also launch "The Mastermind," while Mascha Schilinski has "Sound of Falling," Lynne Ramsay has "Die My Love," along with Hafsia Herzi's "La Petite Dernière," Chie Hayakawa's "Renoir," and Carla Simón's "Romeria."
