C'mon... The Velvet Underground are/were amazing.
LOOOOOVE Velvet Underground. Loaded is one of the best albums EVER.
Fucking Rawsome. Lou Reed's Bong Water.
Agreed.
I love VU, especially Velvet Underground & Nico and Loaded. I never could get into White Light/White Heat.
They are indeed excellent.
It`s been said that whilst the Velvet Underground were really obscure, everytime some-one heard them they started a band, and became big, making them one of the most influential acts ever.
"Sister Ray" is my favorite song ever. :(
The first time I listened to Heroin, I cried. So beautiful...
(ill use this thread cause i dont like starting my own and then only getting a few replies and it dies.... so i thought id ressurect someone elses instead)
who here is a fan of lou reed's "metal machine music?"
Love em to death....especially their semi-punk songs.
I'm not that mad about them! I'm more into Lou Reed's solo-stuff! Transformer :yabbse-thumbup: But maybe that's because I'm the worlds biggest Bowie fan! :?
My favorite is actually the double live album, Live MCMXCIII. It has all my favorite songs in one lovely set, and they sound fucking great. But other than that, Loaded would be my favorite. Such a collection of amazing tunes is...well, it's amazing.

I bought that album not because i expected to like it, but because it`s one of those albums you have to own. But it`s not as bad as i expected, if im in the right mood i sometimes stick it on, but i cant listen to it all the way through.
I think VU were great. Especially 'Loaded', which included one of my favorite songs of all time, "Sweet Jane'. VU & Nico is great as well, and as a tribue I have a print of that same Warhol hanging in my kitchen.
my favorite all-time band

I'm pretty sure that they're my favorite band too. Everyone always talks about
Velvet Underground & Nico and
Loaded, but the self-titled album has some drop dead gorgeous songs like "Candy Says," "Pale Blue Eyes," and "Jesus." Too bad that hardly anyone bought their records or attended their shows in the late 60's. Their loss. I would give anything to go back in time to a VU show.
More of a Reed solo than VU fan:
1.Berlin is great
2.The Raven is great(but may be aquired tastes for some)
3.transformer is great
4.take no prisoners is great
5.anything that I heard live is Brilliant-man can he write
I adore, adore, adore The VU... I think I feel about them the way many seem to feel about The Beatles. I love the first album, but I actually like Velvet Underground ('69) and Nico's overwhelming John Cale-produced solo stuff from the '70s, which is of a rare quality.
I also have a John Cale Island Years compilation that's excellent. I saw him tour with The Creatures. He was technically the opener, but he played through with them, and believe me, you haven't lived until you've seen Siouxsie Sioux do "RoadRunner" (which Cale originally produced for Jonathan Richman, of course) with John Cale on keyboards. It was fucking magical.

All great songs, but I think my favorite is "I'm Set Free." My favorite album, too (as I mentioned).
