Release date: December 6, 2013
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn
Directed by: Jean-Marc Vallée
Premise: The story of Texas electrician Ron Woodroof and his battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies after being diagnosed as HIV-positive in 1986, and his search for alternative treatments that helped established a way in which fellow HIV-positive people could join for access to his supplies.
Behind the scenes (one camera, no floodlight, tight schedule and looks like they had fun making it):
Highlights: script was rejected more than hundred times over 12 years, loosing financing few weeks before shooting, decision to go with one handheld camera, no rehearsals, adjusting script to limited time/budget, preparation for roles.
Second to August: Osage County, this has one of the worst titles ever. It sounds like some sort of real estate drama.
yeah well, once you see the film the title makes total sense.
i liked it, but had some small problems with it.
the acting by the two leads is the best about it. there's no denying that. but the film does looses steam in the second half, as it becomes another "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" drama that seems more fit for a tv movie than a theatrical release.
