solid first effort.

Only if you're not counting "Next Stop Wonderland", "Happy Accidents", and "The Darien Gap".

But if you're not, then I agree.  Solid first effort.

modage

very 90's sundance.  and not very good.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

I wholeheartedly recommend Happy Accidents, though.  Very weird, funny, sad, and smart.  It's working off a premise that's riddled with the potential for disaster; in the hands of a lesser writer it would be filled with holes, but somehow the whole thing manages to be airtight.  Brad Anderson's best, as far as I'm concerned.  Vincent D'Onofrio and Marisa Tomei make a strangely compelling couple, plus there's a supporting part by Sean Gullette (the dude from Pi).

I haven't seen The Darien Gap, but it sounds just awful.
