Forgot to mention: cast are all very good, especially Jordan, Lindo, Steinfeld and O'Connell.

Me. There's a lot to like and admire about it. I was surprised at how much of a slow burn it is – for more than half of its runtime, it's a musical drama that's closer in spirit to O Brother, Where Art Thou? than your run-of-the-mill horror-action blockbuster. Some exhilarating, if slightly silly, dance sequences. The production values are first class.

I'll say this – even though they shot it on film and so therefore it looks ten times more beautiful than most studio projects these days, it is another example of modern cinematographers and directors seemingly not knowing how to fill the frame compositionally when using a widescreen format; aside from the odd moment, most of it is a series of cross-cut close-ups or medium shots of the characters on their own in the centre of the frame surrounded by dead space, with no visually arresting blocking within shots or depth of field. So, it's pretty but a bit monotonous on the eye.

Still, it is an admirable big swing of a movie, emphasising atmosphere over action in a way that would seem almost entirely counterintuitive to the modern concept of tentpole cinema. Worth seeing if you're at all interested in the blues, musicals or horror (in that order).

But that first teaser promo- i really like that and have probably watched it more than the teaser so far... (not into the double digits even, im doing better this time!)

And I like the story; Rattled since the womb. Her biorhythm fine-tuned by gun fire. And she's got a black belt (presumably)- They kidnapped the wrong killer.

I wish Dixon was in this- that character was robbed.

...and i havent read the book, but i'm getting the idea that he's just bumbling through the motions to save her- she's probably more than capable of saving herself and dad is just there for laffs and heart. Dig it.

The two posters are probably the worst posters (ie most generic, fearful and unseasoned) to come from a PTA movie thus far. Although Im sure the next poster will be better, its clear that they're unsure how to sell the movie to a mass audience...

I just don't see PTA going down the extended cut route though...Deleted scenes sure.

Some mildly interesting posts elsewhere about what the final length will be, what's already been trimmed (and if those trimmed elements leaned toward the fantastical). Will such scenes ever see the light of the day? Is it too premature to ask whether this might be be the first PTA film with an extended director's cut?

And I have to weigh in and say that the two posters seem kind of lazy.
