I'm sure you all know about this, but I'm going to mention it anyway...

George Lucas will eventually release the Star Wars Trilogy...most likely in a box set with Episodes 1-3 when the time comes.  However, Lucas has insisted that the only version available to fans will be the dreaded "Special Edition Re-release" cut. I am simply appalled with this, most notably because:

1.) GRIDO (sp) SHOOTS FIRST.
---In the original version of "Star Wars," Han shoots Grido across the table without warning. Lucas had to change that, however...

2.) THE STUPID MUSIC NUMBER IN "RETURN OF THE JEDI."
----Not only was it fucking stupid, but he---

3.) CUT OUT THE EWOK SONG at the end of "RETURN OF THE JEDI."
----When I was a kid I knew all the words, and I'm proud of that.

There are many more transgressions that I'm sure everyone has talked about in great length.

In the midst of this, I urge you all to check out www.originaltrilogy.com, where you can sign an online petition that will be sent to Mr. Lucas himself pleading for him to give the fans the choice between the uncut original version, or the blasphemous version.

Thanks.....................

Is there a petition I can sign that will keep him from releasing ANYTHING, ever again?

Seriously, I'm totally against altering the original release cut of films as far as content goes... even if that original film is nothing I care to think about ever watching...

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

That was a beautiful thing. I love South Park.

Yeah, me too. Fucking Spielberg, I love how his underlings call him Mein Fuhrer in that episode. Hehehehe.

Too bad they stuck Coppola in there...
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

The whole reason I fell in love with movies when I was four years old was because of Star Wars. I'd consider myself now a disgruntled devotee. Lucas can do whatever the hell he wants. I'm sure the originals will get released whenever they decide they want more money. Which they always do. I mean, the official Star Wars website just turned into a paid membership site...what the hell. Oh well, the essential magic of 'Star Wars' still gets me excited, so I'm still a fan.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when I bolught the trilogy on VHS and got the re-released version unwillingly. I was so pissed when I saw Jabba the Hut walking around, mixing with the underlings in the first one. Plus, he was shorter then Han Solo. But in the third one, he's huge. That wasn't cool. It's kinda beneath Jabba, I found and it really pissed me off is all. That is all.
