jack black in "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" may very well be the worst performance to ever frace the silver screen
now im not mad at him for being in the movie,( it was a basic teen slasher film, all i remember from that film was love hewitt had big tits and jack blacks painfull performance burned in my brain) im mad at him for being so fucking awfull in every frame in the movie
and i have yet to see any proof of him having any talent, but some people who i respect like him

Other classic pre-mainstream Jack performances include a redneck in Mars Attacks, Sean Penn's brother in Dead Man Walking, the guy who gets his arm blown off in The Jackal, Bill Murray's student in Cradle Will Rock (Tim Robbins must be a fan) and others that I probably don't remember at the moment.
He was also in The Never Ending Story III: Return to Fantasia or Escape From Fantasia, depending on which VHS copy you get (I used to work at Hollywood Video, we had both copies... one is seven minutes longer than the other)
He plays the gang leader of The Meanies. We had to run G movies in the store, so I ran that one... didn't pay a whole lot of attention though.
Thing about the D is that they ARE good... those are good songs... that's what makes the D rise above other "comedy bands"... they're not just funny, they're good.
I would have agreed 100% with Pants a few months ago, but now I think Jack Black is sort of funny. I still don't like Tenacious D, though
Well I think Jack Black rules! He's damn funny, he's quite good at singing and a good actor.
I tought the SNL show he hosted was one of the best of the recent years. I find him funny in High Fidelity too. All in all I like the guy. Don't like his songs with Tenacious D at all though.
I think Tenacious D is great. I dig Jack Black alright. Im not really sure what everyone's problem with him is.
I just got back from a road trip and i was watching movies on my portable DVD player and i was watching I know what You did Last Summer and i thought of Jack Black in the second one. I swear to god i thought about coming home tonight and creating a thread discussing Jack Black in that movie. Wow that is fucking weird.

now those two movies sucked but scarey movie one was ok, but two was ruined by jack black

but seriously, David Cross was barely in Scary Movie 2... that movie was just plain aweful, it was a bad script and he had shit to work with...you can't say that he sucked the energy out of THAT movie, that movie was just shit to begin with.

but all i see him do is when it comes to skits is play differnt variations on the same guy a efeminate southern guy, or he plays rednecks with out really researching them, he grew up in georgia and was beat up a lot ( i hope) by rednecks , but that is not enough to be a good writter you have to get in their heads, and pretend you care what they are saying and take notes in your mind
like meryl streep in adaptation, and im sorry no redneck i have ever met is like that guy from run ronnie run, and if you say you know a guy who is like that , you just may have seen him but never have spoken at depth with him

I think you're just trying to find strange ways to dislike them...
the majority of comedy skits just take stereotypes and exagerate... it's just a matter of how you do it. Even when people are doing impersonations of people, they're exagerating them... that's a big part of comedy. I don't know what you're expecting.
That "David Cross only plays an effeminate southern guy" is played out and just proves that you have maybe seen part of an episode of Mr. Show.
I've said it before, "Run Ronnie Run" was a failure... they call it a failure themselves... they didn't even want the movie released on DVD, but the studio made them release it. I haven't seen it yet (I probably will, just to see it, even though I haven't spoken to anyone who actually liked it) but every comedian has made comedy mistakes.
Ronnie Dobbs was a funny skit though... and it's just based on the type of people you see on cops (which they "studied").
I don't need to "prove" to anyone that Mr. Show or David Cross is funny... if you don't like it, you don't like it... but why is it necessary to bring it up, unprovoked so often? I think Oasis is a shit band, but I don't go around bringing it up all the time.
so many people hate on Scary movie 2 on XIXAX. I personally thank it was a whole lot funnier than the first. "My germs". That movie to me was truly funny. I just watched it recently and really enjoyed it. Fuck Scary Movie one, the endindg sucked and all that matrix parody shit was un original and dumb as fuck.
they were both kind of shit. nothing special about the jokes, they're just milking it as a spoof series but it will end up straight to video soon enuff.
I saw School Of Rock a while back...it's okay. I liked it, but my liking it was entirely dependent on my enjoyment of Jack Black (for the record, I think he's great). Thus, if you don't like him, stay away. He's basically playing his Tenacious D persona, which is really funny, only it's PG-13. The movie would have been a lot better if it was rated R and had co-starred Kyle. There's really nothing that would indicate that this is a Linklater film...it's a paycheck for him. I liked the fact that it was set in the winter, though...gave it a nice cold feel.
Yeah... it's Linklater, Mike White, and Jack Black... I figure it can only be Okay to Good.
Linklater is nothing special, but I don't hate him... same with Mike White. They've both done good and terrible in the past.
and Jack Black has yet to end up in a great lead role.

Well, I could go through and give you the title of every skit that didn't involve homo-eroticism or "southern voices", but that would be listing about 85% of thier skits. (maybe a little less, because to be honest, Bob Odenkirk does more southern voices than David Cross).
All I can say is whatever skit(s) convinced you that he does the "efeminate southern guy voice" all the time, then every other skit they've done is different... I can picture him doing that voice so I'm sure he has done it before in a skit, but I can't think of a specific skit with that character right now.
If anything, he might do the "asshole salesman" bit a little much.
