Okay rap fans (P- please listen)- keep your eyes peeled for this, out September 7th I think from the Def Jux label, ROB SONIC the album "TELICATESSEN". Man it's good, and unique. Futuristic sound and a fresh flow, also in the group Sonic Sum, but that's another thread. Anyway this album is good. Trying to find some samples, I'll update if i do- but read more here-

the album leaf's new album 'in a safe place' is released in america this tuesday and in europe on july 26th . the album was recorded in sigur rós's sundlaugin studio late last year, with jónsi, kjarri and orri contributing vocals and various instruments on several of the album's tracks. other guest players on the album are the black heart procession, maría of amina, and gyða formerly of múm.

takagi masakatsu's new cd+dvd release 'coieda' (http://homepage.mac.com/utono/COIEDA/COIEDA.html) is very impressive; anyone who enjoys abstract melodic electronic music should listen. also included is several videos by masakatsu which are equally interesting.

If you like Tom Waits and Aimee Mann....try out Sam Phillips' (http://www.samphillipsmusic.com/) A Boot And A Shoe. I just saw her live the other night and she is AMAZING, and so is this CD.
And if you're feeling really adventurous, check out Joanna Newsom's The Milk-Eyed Mender.

I've actually been listening to a lot of Joanna Newsom, specifically Yarn and Glue and Walnut Whales. Her harping is amazing, I absolutely love it, but to love it I must first get over her scathing voice. It's a little too much at times, but I love her nonetheless.

Haha, thanks. Man I'm really trying, I've been racing to get so much music lately. I feel like I'm years behind. For instance, Sigur Ros, Rufus Wainwright, Broken Social Scene, Mogwai, and Iron and Wine have only recently caught my attention, but I fucking love all of them. Thank god I have a bunch of musically-sound friends.
Now do I have anything to recommend...hmmm. I'm not a fan, but I have a friend who adores Sufjan Stevens. I don't know if he would qualify as "new music" for you folks. Also, Micah P. Hinson is great, his cd's an import so it's expensive.

"A Sun Came" is actually an older one of his (maybe his first?). I'd recommend "Greetings From Michigan" to someone checking his music out for the first time, and last year's "Seven Swans" is utterly amazing.

Yes, that version of A Sun Came is the reissue of his first CD (it kind of sucks). Then he did a pretty cool electronic kind of album called Enjoy Your Rabbit, then the grandiose and excellent Michigan, and then Seven Swans which was a way more low key version of what he did last.

And any indie rockers, seek out Ulysses "010" quickly becoming addicting.
And any rap folks out there, please hear the Rob Sonic album "telicatessen" and go back and seek out the Non-Prophets "Hope"- just two great rap/hip-hop albums, we gots to spread the wealth. And on the same label as Non- Prophets "lex Records" check out SUBTLE "a new white" you may be surprised.
If there are any Manitoba fans floating around, just a reminder, they are now called Caribou, the new album is "the Milk of Human Kindness" between that and the new M83 "Before the Dawn HEals us" I'm satisfying my Blade runner vibes for a taste fo the future. go check it out.

Is he really going through with another "state" album? That should be very interesting, esp. once he gets beyond the states he actually knows very well.
