we're so wiped out from the pandemic that Nomadland doesn't have a topic. what a year. I don't expect this topic to take off but I think the movie is good enough to deserve its own topic



it's not realism. it's not authentic. it's poetic. it's set to a certain pitch. I think the landscape is color filtered. I think it's that blue they use for Sweden. amid copious magic hour. plenty of magic hour in this movie. plenty of feeling. and the feeling is something like perseverance. symbolized by the face of Frances McDormand. and I want to give credit to ChloƩ Zhao for the editing. writer/director, and the editor too. the poetry comes from the camera and from the editing. she created this and she nailed it
