New Rob Eggers looks promising.

Holy shit, he convinced Björk to act again. Looks awesome, but Nicole Kidman's face is, yet again, a problem, and Anya Taylor-Joy's accent is rough.

Of course Focus is advertizing it as the new Revenant à la Vikings, while the initial test screenings reported it is better described as Egger's version of Valhalla Rising.
Looks beautiful, nevertheless.

It's cool that it has Björk in it, but it all looks a bit po-faced and obvious. Struggling to work up any excitement. I disliked The Lighthouse intensely.

Jeremy Blackman

That's funny, The Lighthouse is what sold me on Eggers and improved my opinion of The Witch. This looks amazing.

Smiling Bjork is nightmare fuel

Everyone's too pretty and clean

Agreed. I'm kinda confused why this movie looks so much shinier than The Lighthouse. Not a good look IMO

Saw this. I appear to be in a minority, going by the reviews, but I didn't like it much at all. It's turgid and portentous, loud and empty. Eggers strikes me as more of a production designer than a director, honestly. It felt like a God of War videogame with a veneer of historical respectability to me, at points.

I can appreciate wanting to support a filmmaker getting an 'original vision' made at that budget level, but I can't pretend to have liked it. I also found The Lighthouse very annoying, so maybe Eggers just isn't for me.

It reminded me of the work of Darren Aronofsky and Alejandro González Iñárritu: two of the world's silliest directors.
