Burt looks embarrassed! But I'm probably reading into it because I'm guessing he already felt good about the film once he was nominated

He supposedly never saw the film and regretted doing it the rest of his life, so you probably are correct.

He cleaned-up in the 80s--and took over the business from Jack...

I know the answer it no, but daydreaming for a second, do you think PTA would ever revisit some of his characters in another movie?

A prequel to SYDNEY.  A follow-up to BOOGIE NIGHTS, following Reed and Buck.  Would be fun to know where Lena & Barry ended up.  Maybe Alma in the 60s?

I remember folks here talking about, and maybe it was you Wilberfan, Alma and Cyril evolving the House of Woodcock in the swinging 60's together after Reynolds unfortunate passing.

I got to meet Ricky Jay and talked to him about Boogie Nights. He said Burt Reynolds never really got the movie while filming or afterwards. He famously tried to get off the picture the first week of filming. And when it won the Golden Lion and they came out and got a standing ovation he leaned into Ricky Jay and said, "I still don't get it."

Yes

Wtf is he talking about 'won Golden Lion"?

WorldForgot

LOL Does he mean Golden Globe? Good film journalism

Dear God.
Everyone's doing their best to make him look barely OK but the dude sounds clueless as fuck. If you read the Boogie Nights screenplay it either blows your mind or make you weary, but you don't dismiss it as fluff. In case you do and still sign on to do the movie, you don't actually watch the final film and claim "you don't get it". He was blinded by his anger towards PTA or something, but it also sounds like he didn't make a lot of good films later in his career because he couldn't spot a good film with a gun to his head.

Drenk

He wanted to be the only shining star. He became Butthurt Reynolds instead.
Ascension.
