thankfully most of the overt sentimentality inherent to a story like this is subdued.  unfortunately so is everything else.  if mod thought lincoln was bland then this movie might as well not exist in his universe.  it's especially a shame because of the caliber of the people involved and how compelling the story actually is--it deserves a better movie.  performances are strong, though william h macy seems lost in it, mostly because his character is so stupidly underwritten.  can't recommend that you pay money to see this.
