trailer

synopsis: A musical set in the Prohibition-era American South, where a speakeasy performer and club manager Rooster (Big Boi) must contend with gangsters who have their eyes on the club while his piano player and partner Percival (André Benjamin) must choose between his love, Angel (Paula Patton) or his obligations to his father (Ben Vereen).

looks way funner than those other successful-hot-stars-playing-struggling-artists movies.
"Tragedy is a close-up; comedy, a long shot."

oh my god.  what a movie.  good energy throughout, aside from the obviously great soundtrack, the acting and action were great too.  it didn't feel greasy as musicals almost always inevitably did.  I dunno, everything about it was great, I mean, obviously there were cheesy parts but the movie was so effortless (yet the actors were so into it) I really got into them.
