HONG KONG – Jackie Chan's latest film "Shinjuku Incident" will have its world premiere at this year's Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), according to sources close to the production.

Pic, about a Chinese immigrant in 1990s Japan who finds himself embroiled with the Yakuza, is skedded to open the festival ahead of its Apr 2 Hong Kong theatrical run.

The film, which cost upwards of $15 million, was produced by Emperor Dragon Movies, a new subsidiary of Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP). EMP has already sold Singaporean rights for "Shinjuku" to distrib Scorpio East (Variety, Mar 4, 2008).

The HKIFF runs from Mar 22 through to Apr 13.
