Title: A perfect (in this case, Star Wars) marathon
Post by: cronopio 2 on June 23, 2010, 08:52:06 PM
Hey pals,
for the next month i'm organizing a star wars marathon with a couple of friends. our original idea was to do the following:
I, II, THE ENTIRE CLONE WARS SAGA, III, IV, V, PLAY THE ENTIRE N64 GAME SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE AND THEN VI.
but that would take like two days, so we're thinking about options to watch it as efficiently as we can.
we've decided to leave the game out of the marathon, because, even the idea is very cool (it would change the rythm of the event) it would be the most time consuming effort of the day.
now we're thinking we could change the order of the movies, cos i read in this website: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/star-wars/articles/17/title/best-viewing-order-star-wars-marathon that if you start the marathon with IV, V, then watch the new trilogy , and end with VI, it takes a better dramatic effect.
the only question now is how much clone wars should we watch, cos that's like a 5 hour toll of sub-story.

i like the idea that you can alter the chronological order of marathons to get better results, taking stuff out or even adding different movies (i'm thinking batman begins, dark knight, and batman returns). what are your suggestions?

i take serious issue with that website (without having read it). first off, don't watch the prequels ever. but if you reeeeally have to, watch them backwards before the original trilogy. hayden robs vader of any scariness if you remember his version/overall motivation. i mean, the dramatic intensity of return of the jedi could not be blunted any more than it is by episode iii's ultimate, wimpering wet paper bag of diaheria reasoning behind why vader is vader.

by clone wars do you mean the 2d awesomeness/what the prequels should have been or the 3d bullshit? if you want to cut it down, season 2 is where it's at.

No marathon including Harrison Ford can be perfect.

Yeah, though do make sure you watch it at the end or it could ruin the whole thing for you.
