what the fuck does that mean
ohhh moz for shame
Great news. I can't wait. Is it out yet?..... How about now?
Wasnt somebody else doing one too?
Yeah, Todd Haynes, whose film would have probably been better. He wanted to make a bio-epic type film.
speaking of bob dylan in the movies, has anybody seen this wonderful piece of celluloid?

First thing I thought when I heard this was what bearing this might have on Haynes's project. I think they'll be two extremely different pieces of work, with Haynes's being heavily fractured and fictionalized and Scorsese's being what sounds like a documentary, but... well, I'm hoping Haynes's film will come many months later (script's not even finished yet) and maybe ride any ripples of success Scorsese's doc might have.

Yeah, good point, ya ponce. Who wouldn't have been?
according to SPIN MAGAZINE...
Martin Scorsese has announced plans to film a biography about Bob Dylan. The movie is set for release to PBS sometime in 2005.
So long as Scorsese resists the temptation to crawl up his own ass, this could well be one of THE best music documentaries ever. :)
from rolling stone...
scorseses tenatively titled Bob Dylan Anthology will focus on his early years- from his stint at the university of minjnesota to the recording of Blonde on Blonde in 1966- and will feature Dylan talking about himself (his first on-camera interview in twenty years). It will include never-before-seen footage from the 1963, 64, and 65 Newport Folk Festivals, outtakes from the D.A. Pennebakers 1967 Dont Look Back and silent home movies from 1961. The Scorsese project will also contain rare television footage, including Dylans 1964 appearance on the Steve Allen show. The doc is expected to debut at upcoming US film festivals and air on PBS sometime in 2005.
and for you godardian...
Haynes movie, tenatively titled Im Not There: Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan, is the impressionistic account of the man. Haynes says the drama will "draw from [Dylans] life but will retract who he is into a cluster of characters played by different actors." Though the film hasnt yet been cast, at least one of those Dylans will be plyaed by a woman. Somehow, this project has the musicians blessing.
Scorsese Hasn't Spoken to Dylan About Film
Martin Scorsese has been working on a film about Bob Dylan for two years and there's one important person he hasn't spoken to about it: Bob Dylan.
"I'd not like to deal with the man directly," Scorsese told television critics this weekend. "I'd like to create the story, to find the story, first of all, and then play it out the way I think it's right."
The film concentrates on Dylan's early performing years from 1961 to 1966 and will run this summer as part of the PBS "American Masters" series. Scorsese directed "The Last Waltz" chronicling the final performance of former Dylan backup The Band.
Scorsese has access to 10 hours of fresh Dylan interviews conducted by the singer's manager, and said he may eventually ask Dylan a few questions. Even then, he can never be quite sure if the always inscrutable Dylan is being upfront or not.
"I'm trying to make as honest a film as possible without unnecessary restrictions," he said. "But I think for me, of course, I'm on his side, so I might come out in terms of a pro-Dylan."
Is there such a thing as an Anti-Dylan?
not to be a jerk, because i'm far from it, but i think my No Direction Home thread, and the link within it (despite having and sharing the same association to Scorsese), fits perfectly and individually into "News about upcoming movies that are actually going to be released soon and have confirmed details"
plus, this hasn't been posted in since january. haha.
oh well.
They don't care for your logic, they are moderators.
just re-post the info here and they can change the thread title. all directors who have forums must have the news about their upcoming projects in those forums. otherwise: chaos.
This is the reason xixax doesn't get much posts. It's pretty hard to have conversations here.

you're right. i didn't look at it that way.
grapevine and other movies (with the exception of now showing) are exclusively for movies by directors who aren't in the directors chair. i got it. i apoligize for that.
:)

Donovan.
Check out the scene in "Don't Look Back"; it's like putting matter and anti-matter in the same space.
