Xixax will create a list of the 15 best movies ever made.
It's time to nominate!
Each member will send in a list of 30 nominations. Those voted will be counted and a list of 50 films will be determined. From the 50 nominations, each member will then choose 10. Those votes will count for the final list of 15.
RULES
you can nominate up to 30 movies
once a vote is submitted, there will be no changes granted
anyone can vote
do not display your votes publicly (yet)
use full titles ("Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" instead of "LOTR: FOTR")
if there have been remakes or movies of the same title, please specify the year
in the case of foreign films, please use the most common title
you must alphabetize your list
don't put "the" before anything
If your username begins begins with A-D, send your ballot to Cinephile (http://xixax.com/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=280)

Please put "Dekapenticon" (or your nearest spelling) in the subject line.
NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED BEGINNING FRIDAY NOVEMBER 25TH UNTIL SATURDAY DECEMBER 10TH.
So just remember, we're looking for YOUR opinion here. The previous list should have no bearing on your votes. It's not about what you think somebody else thinks is best but what YOU think is best. So have fun with it! In addition we are also alllowing campaigning for certain films this year. So if you think you can do a good job promoting a film (not spamming) encouraging others to check out a possibly overlooked film will be a great way for everyone to get involved.
Have any questions about the voting process? Ask them here.
It's 7:2 that Brazoliange will win this year's XIXAX DEKAPENTICON. Sadly, the 2004 winner, Sleuth, is a longshot at 35:1.
Koneko Monogatari. I'm just saying. It's out there now, hopefully it will win, if it doesn't whatever. Koneko Monogatari.

easy tiger, we're going to have a campaign thread coming soon. this is a heads up to the rest of you as well.
Starting November 25th?
I'M BURSTING WITH WANTING TO SEND IT NOW!
More time to think it over, I guess.
I wish 03 was still here so I could see his... no wait I don't wish 03 was still here.

03 is still here
This is potentially a stupid idea (be nice -- I'm emotionally fragile)... but it would lend the list a lot more... I dunno, call it credibility if you want, or logic, something... if we couldn't nominate anything less than ten years old. Based on the old "seeing how a movie ages" type thing, a real classic needs a bit of time to stand out. And anyway, if we were to pick one, it would be Magnolia, so let's just all agree on that and make it interesting for the number one spot on the list...
No? Yes? Just a thought.

The problem with that is since I'm 21, the only 10 year old movies I've watched when they came out are not at all my favorites, making the 'aging' argument pointless. Most of us have seen old movies after new ones, so the aging process is even more advanced with the less than 10 year old movies than the 'older'.
If we were talking about the Top 15 Most Respectable Movies I'd agree, but not with favorites.
One more week!!! Your list of 30 nominations is due on the 10th.

Sentence: The Remix.
Artist: modage.
Release Date: 12/06/05
Label: Xixax
I've read a lot of modage's other sentence remixes, famously featured in Gamblour's signature, and this one might be one of his very best. Whileperhaps not as creative conceptually, mod's new twist to sentence structure this time around is worthy of illimitable praise and adoration. I look forward to this guy's future work, as I know a lot of you do too.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
no offence to anyone who has sent their list in, i know it's a favourites list and all so just take this as a friendly reminder:
MOVIES EXISTED BEFORE 1994
thank you. oh and if you have been lurking forever and NEVER posted, don't be ridiculous, why would we count your list? the dekapenticon is a kind of reward for members who have contributed to this community. how can someone who has ZERO posts be given as much influence on the results as someone who has actually contributed, however slightly, and become an active part of what we collectively refer to as "xixax"? since you've never posted i've made the questions rhetorical.
to clarify, that was to ppl who have ZERO posts -- have said absolutely nothing. not cool newbs like Sunrise, I Love A Magician, etc. who have at least introduced themselves.
SEND IN THOSE VOTES!

Yeah, right... name me
one movie made before 1994.
2001.
2010.
I just sent my votes in. I'm best with procrastination.
let me just reiterate to anyone thinking about maybe not voting. VOTE. we WANT your opinion. we dont care if its all movies after 1994 (we will make fun of you in private but no one else will know), we dont care if you're behind on movies lately or dont know the classics, or you're busy right now. send in a list. we want your list, we need your list. choose or lose.
Then please extend the deadline.
to when? are there (m)any more members who need an extension to get their lists together?

No. You'd be changing it all for me.
I've been crazy busy but am now jotting some down here at work. It's hard to find the "greatest". I'm not sure if you're looking for technical aspects, inspirational, great combination of all aspects (cinematography, screenplay, acting, etc), or what. I'm sure I'm falling into the trap that most are, which is listing "favorites" instead of "greatest". For instance, to me, Almost Famous is a wonderful film but it would look ridiculous on a list like this. I'll have my list in by 11:59pm PST Saturday Dec 10.
I thought it was "greatest favourites".

Shit. I wish I had read this before submitting my list.
One of these days, I'll do that spreadsheet of every film I've ever seen to make it easier for next time.

What the fuck? Did you vote last year? And remember we had this same problem, so the idea is to vote for your greatest favorites? like redlum said?
i just voted for films that meant a lot to me. i had several revisions because then i thought "i need to represent this director," or "this movie is too recent." and then i just stopped worrying about it and said "that's good enough."
is there any way that after it's all over we could compile a list of all the nominations that didn't make the final vote?
this would offer a great guide of movies to pick from when anyone's searching out something else to see.
i know there are a few that ended up on my list that were way too recent and probably not as good as some other movies, but they found their way into my list anyway because they mean a lot to me.
So today's the last day to vote?

I second this, it would be very interesting I think.
Also, you're going to choose 50 flims, what if you have let's say four flims with the same number of votes but only two spots left to complete the list, if that happens what do you do? an admin vote or something? Just curious.

I could use another day or two, just to check out a few more movies I was considering. Not essential, as I do have a list, but it would be nice.
btw in case you guys didnt notice, mac's been campaigning his other set of films in this thread. and you thought we wouldnt notice. :elitist:
haha
I know this is last last minute, but if the foreign title is "La Haine" for example, should we put the "La" because it does actually mean "the". or doesn't it? i'm putting it anyway.

can the nominations for the people who voted on day one count more b/c we arent lazy?
or perhaps some of us here have more to do in our day to day life than others
I'll keep my eyes wide shut to that.
The unbelievable truth is that only simple men haven't voted yet. Is it a matter of ambition, are they amateurs? Do they need to read the book of life, are they just cineflirts? Get the girl from monday to tell them: there's no such thing as Henry Fool on the Xixax boards. We adhere to the theory of achievement, we're surviving desire, we're the goddamn mother fucking milk and honey. So get out from under your kimono and vote. That goes for you, your dog, your kid, and your cartographer's girlfriend.

TOMORROW is the

Was it so hard to think of our top 30 movies?
I remember sitting on Nov. 24th organizing my list so I could send it on the 25th... don't we bitch about top movies and now we don't send lists in, what's the deal?
Wait, what?
Yeah, did you hit post on Dec. 13th, when that post would have made sense, and it only went through today?
I didn't think it was that confusing.
the content made sense. posting it 8 days after the deadline did not.
context is everything :!:
