Just saw 10 Cloverfield Lane and Midnight Special both exceptionally good films and I love them. I was looking around to see if I could find any more new similar thrillers, found a couple that look EXCEPTIONALLY good!!! Any more suggestions?

POST YOUR NEW & OLD FAVORITE THRILLERS!!!! :bravo: :) :waving:
Welcome!
I'm not a thriller connoisseur or anything, but...
NEW: Based on your picks, I highly recommend The Invitation (http://xixax.com/index.php?topic=13345.0).
OLD: Haven't seen it, but apparently The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072251/) is an amazing thriller.
Just a quick list of really good ones and ones that embody the genre well.
No Country for Old Men
Mulholland Drive
Sorcerer
Perfect Blue
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Memories of Murder
Drive/Only God Forgives
The Conversation
Vertigo
Major and minor Fincher movies (Seven, The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, TGWTDT, Gone Girl)
Inception/Memento
The Ghost Writer
Children of Men
High and Low
The Silence of the Lambs
Heat
The Raid (2)
Lots of genre crossover (I guess I'm not too sure what a thriller is).
This could also be used as my response to the Taste/Perspective topic,
(if "vicious satire" aligns with "thriller" in any way)
Battle Royale, Godard's
Weekend,
The Boss of it All, this scene:
When I think thriller, I generally tend to think of horror movies that have a heavy sense of atmosphere, suspense, psychological fear and/or are disturbing; but really a thriller can belong to any genre so long as the film contains those qualities in spades.
Some movies which somewhat fit the bill:
- The Orphanage
- Orphan
- Compliance
- Eyes Wide Shut
- Side Effects
- A Tale of Two Sisters
- A Simple Plan
^^ I was going to say 'A Simple Plan' too. It's so expertly crafted, the world and characters feel absolutely real. No matter how many times I see it, the death sequences always bring up a palpable sense of dread.
'Cape Fear' (1991) I watched this recently. It's Scorsese's only true attempt at a horror film, and for that fact I love how the majority of it is so blasted with light. You almost get the impression that he thought "you know what? my movies don't have enough sun in them." and got it all out of his system in one go. Deniro and Nolte are in their physical prime. I don't know if Deniro has played as threatening a presence since, save his performance in 'This Boys Life'. It took me awhile to come around to this because it doesn't have the same 'Flash' as Scorsese's other work, and there's a huge lull in the 3rd act before the climax, but with all the shitty remakes we've dealt with since, you have to admit this is a damn good one.
The Fourth Man
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKEd8SNDN9I
Directed by Paul Verhoeven.
This is really out there. I had no idea where it was going when I first saw it and found myself surprised and delighted at that. You can see a lot of the origins for 'Basic Instinct' here, but it's so much weirder. It opened my eyes to how European directors are WAY more willing to explore dark sexual themes, finding true drama and horror in that instead of simply physical violence. I don't even recall much of the plot, so I probably owe myself a refresher, but if you give this a shot you won't be disappointed.

Green Room is a really good one.
And while I didn't like it, Don't Breathe seems to be a popular one.
I haven't seen 10 Cloverfield or Midnight Special yet, but from what I read they sound more like psychological thrillers.

Why didn't you like Don't Breathe, would be interesting to hear? It's one of my favorite movies of 2016! :)
A CURE FOR WELLNESS, new thriller that looks awesome!
Has anyone seen SPLIT yet, it seems to have got surprisingly good reviews? Had kind of given up on M. Night Shyamalan!
it has a 4.7 on imdb, movie people are chatty about it, i don't understand where it was released or if i'll see its theatrical, Arrow Films is the distributor
this movie had me at "Prevenge", its title, it's British, the cowriter costar of Sightseers, "I think nature is a bit of an ass though, don't you?"
SOLD. That looks amazing.
Great Thriller List on IMDb: www.imdb.com/list/ls063529722 (http://www.imdb.com/list/ls063529722)
Most of those are not thrillers.
THE HITCHER - forgotten masterpiece, must see thriller if you haven't watched it!!! :)

Looking forward to Darren Aronofsky's next film Mother!, looks like an old school thriller from the 70's.

Watched it this summer based on a recommendation. Couldn't believe how intense it felt and how on edge of seat I was on. It's rare to get chills similar to the chills you got as a kid and less cynical about make-believe.

Great suggestion!!!
Top anticipated thriller at the moment for me must be Annihilation with Natalie Portman, sci-fi/thriller coming February by Ex Machina director Alex Garland, didn't even want to finish watching the trailer not to spoil the experience later, looks awesome! It had me at hello, doesn't happen often!
Can't wait for Sicario 2

The Well is definitely on my list of most anticipated films, top 5 for sure!!! I read somewhere Uma Thurman is playing the lead, hope she does. More on Imdb on The Well: www.imdb.com/title/tt3316624/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3316624/)
Must say that A Quiet Place was much better than I expected, worth watching for sure!

I was able to catch an early preview screening of The Well, and I have to say it's now one of my favorite thrillers of all time. The director was not in attendance, but I wish he were there for a Q&A, as the film raised a lot of questions.

Thanks for the update Jeremy, awesome!!! Happy to hear my instincts were right, can't wait to see The Well, moved from my top 5 to the number 1 spot of my most anticipated films!!!

Speaking of thrillers, you guys, this one that I co-produced is currently available as of today through all your favorite stores that sell physical media, as well as digitally on Amazon and iTunes, and should also be available on most major cable/satellite companies' on-demand services. It's a fun action thriller with a dash of suspense, and there's at least a theoretical correlation between people paying to see it and me making money from working on it. Casper Van Fucking Dien is in it. The image in my avatar is a screenshot from it (may not apply if you're reading this post some time in the future). And if you like images, this movie has 24 of them every damn second for like an hour and a half.

Looking forward to The Girl in the Spider's Web, high hopes since he did Don't Breathe not long ago that I though was brilliant.

Another thriller I'm looking forward to and that we can hope is as good as it sounds, Serenity, with Matthew McConnelly and Anne Hathaway.
