let's not attract more freaks than we already do. there's places for that on the internet, places that have been doing it for longer and are quite extensive in their collection. if anyone wants the pics bad enuff they'll find those sites quite easily. it's lame for us to try to compete so for that reason no more of that please.

'Dark Knight' Director's Brother Wanted for Murder?
Source: Cinematical

It's the sort of story that puts Christian Bale's un-Batman-like rant into perspective -- Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan's brother may be a murderer.

Matthew Francis Nolan, 40, is wanted in Costa Rica for the kidnapping and murder of a Florida businessman. Nolan allegedly presented himself to the now-deceased Robert C. Cohen as an investor, claiming he wanted to do business in South America. But his real mission, authorities say, was to get $7 million that Cohen owed another man in Florida.

Nolan's accomplice, Douglas Mejia, has already been convicted of kidnapping Cohen when he and Nolan attempted to extort the money from Cohen's family. When that failed, cops say that the pair killed him.

Nolan was already under investigation by the FBI regarding an unrelated $700,000 bank-fraud scheme. He's now being held in the U.S., awaiting extradition.

Christopher Nolan collaborated with another brother, Jonathan, on the scripts for Memento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight, as well as the upcoming Terminator: Salvation -- it looks like they don't have to search too far to find inspiration for the darker themes in their screenplays. A lot of families have black sheep, but who knew that Nolan's own brother might be the Joker?

Since when did Christopher and Jon Nolan write Terminator: Salvation?

Billy Bob Thornton Displays Jerk-Like Behavior

Another day, another dash of celebrity petulance. By now, you've read about the "strange" interview Billy Bob Thornton gave to a Canadian radio station. But you haven't seen it, and once you do you'll agree that "strange" probably isn't the right word for Thornton's behavior. Many words will come to mind when you see it, but "strange" is probably too polite of one, as is the phrase "under the influence." It reminds me of a surreal, unfunny SNL skit.

The host, Jian Ghomeshi, really deserves praise for remaining cool and professional in the face of such bad behavior and thick tension. It's rather unsettling how Thornton attacks him for asking legitimate questions about music -- which Thornton chooses to answer by discussing Forrest J. Ackerman's Famous Monsters of Filmland before blaming Ghomeshi for a bad introduction.

You also have to feel bad for Thornton's bandmates who are clearly on edge before the interview even begins. They deserve better than a drummer who won't bring his kit to perform and while there's supposedly no such thing as bad publicity, who would want to live this down?

Thornton's publicist currently has no comment, but one would hope he apologizes to Ghomeshi and to his bandmates very soon. That is, unless the whole thing was an act to begin with ...

jtm

i'm not familiar with this particular DJ, so i'm not sure the whole story behind it, but the lighting and the camera work leaves me to believe this is scripted along the lines of joaquins "music career".

if not, then billie bobs just high. that's all.

What's going on in mainstream? Is it cool to act a fool? What's the deal? Dre. and Snoop said that shit was wack just 15 years ago.

Jackie Chan: Chinese people need to be controlled
By WILLIAM FOREMAN, Associated Press Writer

BOAO, China – Action star Jackie Chan said Saturday he's not sure if a free society is a good thing for China and that he's starting to think "we Chinese need to be controlled."

Chan's comments drew applause from a predominantly Chinese audience of business leaders in China's southern island province of Hainan.

The 55-year-old Hong Kong actor was participating in a panel at the annual Boao Forum when he was asked to discuss censorship and restrictions on filmmakers in China. He expanded his comments to include society.

"I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not," Chan said. "I'm really confused now. If you're too free, you're like the way Hong Kong is now. It's very chaotic. Taiwan is also chaotic."

Chan added: "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."

The kung fu star has not been a vocal supporter of the pro-democracy movement in his hometown of Hong Kong. Since the former British colony returned to Chinese rule in 1997, voters have not been allowed to directly elect their leader. Several massive street protests have been held to demand full democracy, but Beijing has repeatedly said Hong Kong isn't ready for it.

The theme at Saturday's panel discussion was "Tapping into Asia's Creative Industry Potential," and Chan had several opinions about innovation in China.

He said that early in his career, he lived in the shadow of the late martial arts star Bruce Lee. He said that during his first foray into Hollywood, he struggled to establish his own identity, so he returned to Hong Kong. After spending 15 years building his reputation in Asia, Chan finally got rediscovered by Hollywood, he said.

Chan said the problem with Chinese youth is that "they like other people's things. They don't like their own things." Young people need to spend more time developing their own style, he added.

The action hero complained that Chinese goods still have too many quality problems. He became emotional when discussing contaminated milk powder that sickened tens of thousands of Chinese babies in the past year.

Speaking fast with his voice rising, Chan said, "If I need to buy a TV, I'll definitely buy a Japanese TV. A Chinese TV might explode."

holy shit kudos to him for speaking the hard to hear/say truth about the unperfectness of freedom. Very cool of him, would have been way easier to be phony and praise HK and Taiwan.

I was thinking more along the lines of Jackie Chan's lost his damn mind, but sure, why not.
