Seth Rogen makes a porno
Showtime greenlights comedy series for 2009
Source: Variety

Seth Rogen is looking to make a porno-based comedy for Showtime.

Rogen and production partner Evan Goldberg are developing a comedy series for the pay cabler about three twentysomethings who learn about life and love while running a pornography shop.

Rogen and Goldberg will exec produce the as-yet untitled project.

Matthew Bass, who is credited as an assistant to both comedy filmmakers on "Pineapple Express" and "Superbad," will pen the script and co-exec produce.

Rogen, who stars in Kevin Smith's recently released "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," is also working with Goldberg on Mandate Pictures comedy "Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse."

Among a number of cablers who are active on the development side, Showtime already has several comedies greenlit to series for next year, including "Nurse Jackie" starring Edie Falco and "United States of Tara" from scribe Diablo Cody.

Showtime plans to bow "Tara" Jan. 18, along with the season premieres of "The L Word" and "Call Girl."

I watched Glee tonight. Yeah, I know. But someone told me the other night that it was good, and there was nothing on while I was killing time for Top Chef, so decided to give it a chance... and it was actually very funny. I had no interest in it because the way they were promoting it looked like they were jumping on the High School Musical bandwagon, but the show is well written and the singing is a very minor aspect of the show. It almost has a American Beauty vibe to it.

And while we're at it, what's with Project Runway getting rid of the edgy designers at the start of the season, and now realizing the crappy ones need to go?

OMG, this post makes me come off as gay, doesn't it?

It's okay, Mac, we can be gay together. Glee really is a fun show, and Project Runway gave that Mitchell guy way too many chances.

I actually wanted to watch Glee, but I forget every single time it's on. How many episodes has it been now, 3? I will never catch up.

I kind of want to watch Modern Family, I'm kind of excited to see Ed O'Neil to return to television.

I forgot to watch 'Glee' tonight but its awesome and the fourth episode was yesterday, wednesday.

Just saw 'Cougar Town', its upbeat but forgettably desperate. I'll keep watching for a few more episodes to see if it gets better since its from Bill Lawrence.

'Modern Family' is promising and I like it quite a bit.

I'm watching television all day ......... but I'm paid !  :bravo:

Currently subtitling the french version of Still Standing, a funny sitcom that aired from 2002 to 2006 in your country. I think on CBS. I like it, I had to do all season 3 and I'm 10-12 episodes in now I think. Been laughing all week  :yabbse-smiley:

Community has promise. It's also got Chevy Chase, Joel McHale, Pete's wife from 'Mad Men', a cute blonde chick and tons of movie references. This weeks episode had a montage set to Aimee Mann's "Wise Up" that was laugh out loud funny.  Also: it was created by Scud: The Disposable Assassin co-creator Dan Harmon, which means I have to watch until it's cancelled.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

it's also got the guy from derek comedy.  the star of the troupe.

This is probably my favourite new show. The cast is perfect, the Russo brothers direct, and last week guest starred John Michael Higgins as a prof who teaches a class about seizing the day. great stuff.

pete

I actually got teary in that episode.

agreed that community is a good show, and surprisingly has a lot of heart. john michael higgins climbing a tree at the end was hilarious. i hope it makes it.

"Secret Girlfriend" on Comedy Central.  Do not watch it, even on accident.  This show is like having cancer slowly raped into you, except that would probably be funnier.

HaHa. Of course, after I read this and logged off, it was on and I had to watch the train wreck. It played like an extended AXE bodyspray commercial. And there's a reason those are only 30 seconds long.
