in fact, I had trouble remembering what dvds actually came out in 2005...there should be some sort of list we can look at to nominate or something...it would be nice.

I looked back at what I bought throughout the year, answering any DVD release date questions with Amazon.  For more ideas of things I might have watched but forgot about, I looked around at what some people said at a site like this.

hmmm... the criterion forums?  not likely to be any bias there.  you can also look at just about any dvd review website.  their reviewers usually compile a more well rounded list of the years notable releases.

Despite the name, the lists include any number of releases from the year...not only those with spine numbers. 

EDIT: Ironically enough, I didn't see anyone on there mention Naked as one of the best DVD releases of the year.
