talent gone to waste

Julia Roberts is a great actress, but she often makes lightweight crap like America's Sweethearts.  The best work she has done is with Soderbergh.  If she wanted to, she could do better films and win a few more Oscars.

Reese Witherspoon is a fine actress, but she hasn't done anything challenging since Election.  In fact, she seems intent on following the Julia Roberts path of lightweight romantic comedies.

Both of these actresses should follow the example of Nicole Kidman.  Kidman works with great directors, and has scored two Oscar nominations in a row.  She just finished a film with Lars Von Trier.

Old School and A Night at the Roxbury were funny.
It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.

Better watch out, I'm not giving any names but a certain pompous idiot might attack this thread.

I think Julia is rather ugly to be honest. I don't understand why she is considered so attractive when really she reminds me of a horse..I know that has nothing to do with her as an actress but I really don't think she's a great actress either. As I do find quite a few Soderbergh films that are wonderful I can't say I like the ones she's been in.

In addition to the list I think Steve Martin needs to be here. Queen Latifa?

Also Owen Wilson...Enough with the cheap Jackie Chan and Eddie Murphy movies. Luke Wilson also is shamed. I suppose these actors might just be trying to make some extra dollars so in the future they can only do films they believe in (like George Clooney did).

Haha, I know, I remember in Oceans 11, there is a scene where Matt Damon tells somebody that the best part of his day is when she comes walking down those stairs, and then you see Julia Roberts walking down the stairs and she just looks weird. I laughed, others didnt.

I thought Marlon Wayans (sp?) was good in Requiem for a Dream, keep pushing it/

Zoolander rocks. I'm very lenient with saying that comedic movies suck. If they make me laugh hard then they're well done. I'm aware that Zoolander isn't a great film, but it makes me laugh a lot, so it's good, even if it is stupid. It's not like a dramatic movie where one is trying to get something out of the viewer other than trying to get cheap laughs. It depends on what a movie is going for. I could tell XXX wasn't taking itself seriously (or maybe I just wasn't taking it seriously), so I liked it because it achieved what it was going for. Same for Zoolander. Romantic comedies take themselves overly seriously, so I can't stand them. Rant rant rant, I forgot what I was saying.

I know what you mean, and I expected a really stupid-funny movie in Zoolander, but it just wasn't funny enough to me.  Two parts that I laughed at:  Gasoline Fight, and "A School For Ants"

OH, MAN! You've got that right!

She ain't "all that"!

I think she got labeled as cute in "Pretty Woman". Maybe "Mystic Pizza". But from then on, she's been pretty much average when it comes to the looks department. At least in my opinion.
